So, the two of the former colonies' nowadays federal territories within their federal states: Canberra vs DC. Unlike Ottawa, that is a fully integrated part of Ontario, these ones are federal property obviously, with Canberra being an enclave within New South Wales and DC being sandwiched between Virginia and Maryland. So, which one has the better climate thereof? For me the answer is simple: cooler summers and warmer winters means Canberra has it in the bag easily What about you?

Canberra, although DC is not bad at all for its position.

Canberra definitely, summers look comfortable enough most of the time, and their winter is like my idea of spring and probably much more stable than Washington as well.

I can only complain about the sunshine hours, avg highs from December to March, and the record highs in the five warmest months. Other than that, Canberra is near perfect anywhere in the Southern Hemisphere.

Canberra by far, much better winters, more sun, better rainfall pattern.
I didn't realise how similar Canberra's rainfall totals, days and distribution is to London (only a summer peak and winter min instead).

DC for being safe from frost in mid summer! Aussie climates are susceptible to summer frosts.

Lowering avg high temps 3-4ยฐC would improve a lot with my ideal diurnal range too. I actually made an ideal climate motivated by Canberra a few weeks ago.

DC. Colder winters, more snow, warmer summers.

Canberra. Far better summers, and much stormier with frequent fog. It's not too far from here, either.

Canberra for the more comfortable summers and extra sunshine. I like the snow in DC though

Canberra has really nice summers, very comfortable with the right amount of heat while dc @ reagan is too oppressive for me. Dc is better for me the rest of the year though, so it wins somewhat at reagan and by a wider margin at dulles, where summers are more comfortable.

One of the problems of Canberra is that the sun is too strong there, but I'd still give Canberra a slight edge for milder winters if nothing else.

Washington DC easily. Warm summer nights, wetter, more thunderstorms, and more interesting winters.

Whรถler voted for Canberra?
But DC gets more snow, has colder winters, and arguably gets better storms...

Canberra, the milder winters are offset by the much better summer temps.
