en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gambell%2C_Alaska#ClimateAn island off the western coast of Alaska at 63.8 N, it has a monstrous seasonal lag (coldest month February, March colder than January, April colder than December ) I give this climate an E. Dec - April is good, but the seasonal lag is way too much. Summers are very anemic and it's presumably too cloudy.

F. No warmth whatsoever.
Could be worse if it was wetter.

B+. Summer is nonexistant and winters are too chilly, but it looks to be frequently lashed by arctic gales, which make the vast majority of its rating.
For a maritime 63.8° N, this climate is perfectly appropriate for the polar latitude, which makes it even better. I'm sick of Northern European climates and their absurdly warm temps for their polar 50° + parallels!

Z a completely shit climate that has no redeeming qualities whatsoever and makes even Vladivostok look like Perth in comparison

Why the fuck is December warmer than April I gave it the Z rating, ewwwwww (dec mean = -9.1°C, apr mean = -9.6°C) lag due to arctic sea build up. Alaska has some mediocre but livable climates. This isn't one of them

C. Interesting, and nice winters, but I wouldn't want to live there.

C Definitely colder than ideal, especially in the summer. It's not severely cold, it's cloudy, windy, and it gets a decent amount of snow...all good features. I think I could deal with it, but would need a few weeks a year in warmer climes to thaw out.

Interesting how May is colder than October, and June colder than September. It's pretty cold for 63N.

Absolutely horrifying. Even Barrow has measured a higher record high and that winter plateau seem to last forever. The upside would be that the winters aren't that cold (compared to Yakutsk), there is some kind of plateau in the summer months although a moderate 9 degrees and July hasn't recorded a low under 0.
I'm surprised to see that Gambells population has been increasing the last decades. There's over 700 miserable souls up there now.
