Which Georgia has the better climate, the US state or the former Soviet republic? Both are dominated by Csa climates, however Georgia (state) is much hotter and for a longer period of time than Georgia (country). I have listed the 5 largest cities in both Georgias to make a fair comparison. Georgia (country): 3,718,200 | 69,700 km2 (26,900 sq mi) Tiblisi: 1,118,035 Batumi: 152,839 Kutaisi: 147,635 Rustavi: 125,103 Gori: 48,143 Georgia (state): 10,429,379 | 153,909 km2 (59,425 sq mi ) Atlanta: 472,522 Columbus: 197,485 Augusta: 197,081 Macon: 153,515 Savannah: 146,763

I like Batumi's rainfall. There's no place like Gori in the state.

Georgia the state, for being warmer and sunnier. When it comes to culture however, the country would be an easy choice

I voted for the country, although the country is much more cloudier, it has much nicer temps, and it's sunshine hours are similar to the PNW which I live fine with.

I have a hard time deciding for this one. Georgia (the state) seems more variable in winter with wetter summers, but Georgia (the country) looks like it has more seasonal ranges with most consistent cold in winter, and cooler transition seasons. I think I'll choose the country.

Georgia (country), easily; much better winters and year-round lows. How could you forget South Georgia? South Georgia beats both of them.

The country. I didn't even have to look at the climate boxes. The only tolerable climate in Georgia, the state is Sky Valley.

Sky Valley was actually quite good, albeit a bit too rainy The country wins for me too because it's less severe summer heat. Batumi is also a relatively decent climate. What do you make of Tblisi versus your own climate btw, Sari?

Georgia the state because you have climates like Savannah. Nothing in Georgia the country can beat that.

South Georgia is heaven on Earth. I've never been there but I sure as hell would jump on a boat at a moments notice to go. I'd be tempted to stay and not return to civilisation if I could survive on albatross, penguin, seal, and dolphin meat. Here's my avatar which is from South Georgia. Grytviken is 2C which is colder than Riga, Latvia which is 3C. Grytviken colder than Riga, Latvia on Dec 27/28 2017. Grytviken colder than Riga year-round.
