It's a tough one. San José is much sunnier, but the days are much longer in Ushuaia. The sun is also much stronger in Ushuaia, and you can get a tan in Ushuaia. Since I know San Jose will get more votes, I'll vote Ushuaia today to make it more even.

I'll go Ushuaia as well for the daylight since the temps are so close anyway and their January is like a feasible May here so it would seem familiar to me.
Anybody have any idea how many sun hours San Jose averages in January? It says 10 rainy days but are the other days likely to be mostly sunny?

Ushuaia; cooler and a frail chance of snow, thus making it more exciting. Much windier, too. Ushaia is an A– climate, whilst San Jose is a D+ climate...no contest whatsoever!

Ushuaia for the long days, although as a "July" it would certainly feel like a letdown if I lived there. Of course, San Jose (an A climate) is hands down a better one than Ushuaia the rest of the year!

Usihsiaaiiaii whatever the fuck you spelll it.
Will no doubt be more interesting than San Jose, hell, you may even see snow, especially if the crummer is as cold front laden as here this fucken year. The endless lows and cold outbreaks we are getting from invading 960hpa lows a 1 hour plane ride away would translate to 200km/h winds and blizzards in Ushiahaisii

Changing my vote to San José as I don't think it should be a one sided poll
