Endless overcast and stormy oceanic winter vs. Endless rain and fog. Winner has the dubious honour of being the reigning champion of UK's Worst Climate. Lerwick:
Capel Curig:

Even discounting the fact that Lerwick most likely is much windier, Capel Curig is still far superior. Rainy days are basically the same, and Capel Curig is warmer throughout the year and thanks to Föhn winds much more prone to warm wather.

I vote Capel Curig too, since it's actually capable of having nice summer days, albeit rare.

We're voting for the one we prefer, right, so the loser wins "Britain's Worst Climate"?
This is a really tough decision, I first had a look at the rainfall and thought I couldn't live with all that rain in Capel Curig, but Lerwick actually gets slightly more rain days for half as much rain!
Both are clear Fs but I'd have to go with Capel Curig for the slightly better summers, more chance of extremes and more sunshine, plus the sunshine recorder probably doesn't get a full horizon because of the mountains, whereas Lerwick's 1100 is probably the actual figure.

Capel Curig, I assume trees will thrive there at least

To be honest, Lerwick has 200 precipitation days, 160-or-so of them being rainy days. Curig has 200 rainy days

So I assume rainfall is more than twice as heavy in Capel Curig.

You often hear about Capel Curig getting 50+ mm in a day, would be interesting to experience occasionally but not all the damn time like during this absolutely remorseless and unprecedented Atlantic wank attack www.tutiempo.net/clima/11-2015/ws-33050.htmlwww.tutiempo.net/clima/12-2015/ws-33050.htmlwww.tutiempo.net/clima/01-2016/ws-33050.htmlLook at the mildness as well, somewhere at 53N and over 200 m altitude getting four consecutive 10C+ minima in mid-December!

Capel Curig really does remind me of the ocean-facing side of Vancouver Island, except more evenly spread rainfall. Heck, even Tofino has a drying trend in summer

Looks like mixed forest to me. Looks like a scenic, taiga sort of Norwegian valley-style to me

Lerwick, very easily. Colder winters, much greater snowfall, and far squallier; it has everything better than Capel.

To be honest, Lerwick has 200 precipitation days, 160-or-so of them being rainy days. Curig has 200 rainy days 132 or so being rainy days, actually. There are an average of 68 snowfall days in Lerwick.
