Florida or Russia? I'd say two generally unloved climates on here. For me the choice is relatively straightforward since Florida is a D+ climate thanks to its long and extended pleasant winter season where temps are quite manageable or even perfect between November and April. Even summers are far better than Miami or South Florida thanks to the somewhat more manageable lows although they certainly won't be pleasant and will feel very ugly indeed come mid-September. The Russian one is more of a D- for me salvaged by the relatively moderate winter lows; they'd remind me of รrebro cold and cloudy periods where we had -3/-8 for like three weeks in a row it felt like. Do-able but not pleasant. Summers are cut way too short too, although July is a tremendous month there.

Florida. Those summers would be a whole new experience for me but they still seem easier to deal with than all those months of cold and gloom in the Russian one.

I'm sorry. But how are St. Pete's summers "far better" than South Florida lol? The average lows are like 0.5 C cooler. I highly doubt you'd even notice a difference between the two during summer. The obvious bigger difference is winter.
Anyways, I choose Russia.

Perhaps mixed it up with Key West or something... anyway, November-April blows Miami out of the water regardless Saint Pete = D+ Miami = E+

Florida is depressing for 4 months of the year, Russia is depressing for 7 months of the year. Florida is less depressing so it wins!

The Russian one has its weather station probably above a lamppost on Nevski Prospekt, lol. Those lows are like Utรถ kind of wicked.
But unbelievable that it is, is that Turku has a lower March record low than the Russian St Pete, though their records go back to the mid 1700's.
Though Russian St Pete is as craptastic as Turku, I will still choose it above the Florida one. Florida is just not my cup of tea.

I'd expect it to be a combo of the Gulf of Finland coming right in and it being narrow enough for the maritime daytime moderation to not affect that west-flow unlike in Latvia etc. Then it must be in the UHI. Still it's surreal to record 15ยฐC lows for July in a 30-year period at 60ยฐN, but also, those Finnish lake stations are just as wicked! Which one was it that had 14ยฐC July lows last 15 years at 62ยฐN, inland on a lake shore in Finland?

Russia though those sunshine hours in winter look disgusting. I think I'd prefer a more sunnier winter climate which I don't expect for St Pete....

Florida is depressing for 4 months of the year, Russia is depressing for 7 months of the year. Florida is less depressing so it wins! FL is depressing for 4 months of the year? Maybe the summer months because of all the storms. If so, FL is depressing during the wrong months. Summer precipitation is indeed a major downside of FL.

The warm and lame winters are rather depressing as well. Though a cooler than average winter is a nice break from the heat usually. To me, the most depressing time of year is August - October, March - early May (this time period is normally too late for good cold snaps, too early for summer storms, and the sun gets oppressive), November and December can be really depressing too if it's warmer and more humid than average. January, June and July are my favorite weather months here.

You've asked me before. No, Turku gets an C-, during a particularly bad year D+.
