Yea, I remember Lommaren mentioning Eureka not rarely. He's mentioned it in 46 posts on CityData. Anyhow, Eureka is definitely not ideal and the lack of variation would be frustrating, but there are far worse climates; I'd still enjoy it. Area is beautiful, but a bit isolated.

Travel five miles inland and you'll have 23°C summers I reckon. Five miles more 26-27°C and then obviously 35°C behind the mountains So nothing uninteresting about it.

Oh, the geographically of the region is really interesting! Lots of microclimates in a small distance. Boring weather, interesting climates if that makes sense. I've been there; neat area. I think Joe90 has, too. A few photos of leaving the coast: fog often lines the coast in the morning; this is as far it reaches in the hills, with cold nights; frost means a really late leaf-out. It had been a cold spring but this is mid-June Eureka is in one of the most moderated areas, get only a little bit inland and the summers have 22°C + maxes. This is redwood forest territory here's Arcata, California. Same climate to Eureka; 5 miles north. Windy and 60°F mid-afternoon in early June.
