The Killers are a great group to listen to a long drive, ilmc90. Put them on many drives up to northern New Hampshire. Even if they make me feel like it's 2005. The singer and songwriter of the group is a devout Mormon.

Lots of good music from the Mormon world, including Imagine Dragons.

Dunno how big they were in England; they were definitely well known in the mid 00s and got a lot of airplay. My social circle then liked that type of music so it felt a bit bigger. Looking it up, their albums charted higher in the UK than the US. White Stripes were popular here, but they seemed to have gotten a big name in Europe. It sounded so random that the Seven Nation Army song was used there for events. I've been listening to Fleetwood Mac a lot recently, kinda re-discovered them. Relaxing enough to be background music but still usually upbeat.

"In the desert, you can't remember your name Cuz there ain't no one for to give you no pain. La la la la la la la" great song, though a few lines are aztistat-like in its repetition like the heat was hot. It got stuck in my head while in the British Columbia and Washington desert after hearing in a coffee shop there [locals told me proudly it was by Neil Young who's Canadian]. Landscape there looked like

I think it's because of their Indie-style music, always been more popular here than in the states. The Strokes are another Indie band who seemed to get more commercial success here than in the US.

Landscape there looked like Sweet pictures! Amazing landscape, exactly the type of landscape that would be an awesome combination while listening to that song. I wanna drive through the High Plains and desert listening to that song, the slow and low guitar and of course the lyrics fit a xeric environment really well.

I listened to them a lot; I thought they weren't big enough to make it big in the UK… Modest Mouse I think is one US indie band that didn't catch on as much in the UK, could be wrong. Didn't realize that type of music was more popular in the UK than the US.

The Killers, and yeah, Indie music was the most popular form of "rock" here in the late-90's and 2000's.
