Today (August 21st):
Herndon, VA; 38.97 N
Sunrise: 06:35:30 Solar Noon: 13:10:11 Sunset: 19:44:52 Length of Day: 13:09:22 Peak Sun Angle: 60.31 degrees
Nearly the end of August. Sunsets are now at 7:45 pm and sunrises are post 6:30 am. Today is also the last day with 60+ degree sun angles for the year, and daylight is quickly descending below 13 hours. We're quickly approaching the time of year where day length is roughly equal at all latitudes. We've lost about 105 mins (1 hr and 45 mins) of daylight since the solstice (51 mins in sunrises, 54 mins in sunsets). Day length and sun angles don't really look summerlike anymore, as we're back to first half of April sun angles/day lengths (equivalent to April 13th for today). Since the solstice, the sun angle has dropped by 14.2 degrees (roughly), so we're about 60% of the way between the solstice and equinox, and 30% of the way between both solstices (summer and winter).
Sun angle is directly overhead (90 degrees) at 9.28 N and on the horizon at 80.72 S for today.

August 30th is our first pre-8pm sunset of the season, it'll be back to 8pm on April 12th next year. We're currently losing 3:53 of day length per day, this will continue to slowly increase until we reach 4:00 per day in late September. We're also 5 days away from our final 45 degree sun angle of the year.
Sunrise: 6:14 Sunset: 19:58 Day length: 13:43:52 Peak sun angle: 46.8 degrees

Today (September 6th):
Herndon, VA; 38.97 N
Sunrise: 06:42:40 Solar Noon: 13:07:36 Sunset: 19:32:33 Length of Day: 12:49:53 Peak Sun Angle: 57.39 degrees
We're now at the last day of the brightest five months of the year (April 6 - September 6 roughly). Daylight is decreasing noticeably, we're now under 13 hours of daylight which means we're quickly approaching the equinox. Since the solstice, we've now lost 2 hours and 6 mins of daylight (1 hr and 7 mins in sunsets, 59 mins in sunrises) and the sun angle has decreased by 17.1 degrees, which means we're now 72.8% of the way between the solstice and the equinox in terms of sun angle and 36.4% of the way between the solstice and winter solstice. We're back to very early April sun angles (April 5th is the equivalent for today). Sun is now overhead at 6.36 N and on the horizon at 83.64 S.

We're now back to late March sun angles (equivalent to March 28th). Sunrises are now at 6:50 AM and sunsets are now at 7:20 PM, solar noon is also becoming noticeably earlier. Today's day length is exactly 12 hrs and 30 mins which is quite interesting (to me at least, lol) and sun angles have now descended below 55 degrees. We've now lost 2 hrs and 24 mins of daylight since the solstice, 1 hr and 5 min in sunrises and 1 hr and 19 mins in sunsets. Sun angle has dropped by 20.13 degrees since the solstice and has 3.37 degrees to go until the equinox, which means we're roughly 86% of the way between the summer solstice and the equinox, and 43% of the way between both solstices. Sun angle is now directly overhead (90 degrees) at 3.33 N and on the horizon (0 degrees) at 86.67 S.
