Today (November 9th):
Herndon, VA; 38.97 N
Sunrise: 06:45:28 Solar Noon: 11:53:09 Sunset: 17:00:51 Length of Day: 10:15:23 Peak Sun Angle: 34.12 degrees
Very winter-like sun angle and daylength now, today's sun angle is equivalent to the beginning of February (equivalent to February 1st today). Today is also the last 5 PM sunset of the year, and the last one until January 4th of next year (January 4th has the same sunset, but the sunrise is 43 mins later at 7:28 am). Sun angle has dropped by 41.2 degrees since the summer solstice, by 17.7 degrees since the fall equinox, and has 6.3 degrees to go until the winter solstice. We've lost 4 hrs and 39 mins of daylight since the summer solstice, (1 hr and 1 min in sunrises, 3 hrs and 39 mins in sunsets) although of course that's thanks to DST. In reality, it's 2 hrs and 1 min in sunrise and 2 hrs and 39 mins in sunset times. The sun is directly overhead at 16.91 S and on the horizon at 73.09 N.

Today is identical to the solstice tomorrow so here are the solstice stats: Sunrise: 9:16 Sunset: 15:20 Day length: 6 h 4 min Peak sun angle: 7,3° 12 h 33 min lost since the summer solstice. Starting tomorrow morning we'll be moving back toward summer - feels good man. The sunset is already a minute later than it was for the past week.
