October 19th: Sunrise: 7:38 Sunset: 18:03 Day length: 10:25:33 Peak sun angle: 27.8 degrees Your sun angles are getting to my winter solstice sun angles now (27.5 degrees on winter solstice for me). Today (October 22nd): Herndon, VA; 38.97 N Sunrise: 07:25:58 Solar Noon: 12:53:46 Sunset: 18:21:34 Length of Day: 10:55:36 Peak Sun Angle: 39.91 degrees We're now in the darkest four month period (Oct 21 - Feb 21 roughly) of the year! Sun angles and daylengths looking almost wintry, today is the first day with a peak sun angle below 40 degrees, and now the day lengths are shorter than 11 hours. We've lost 3 hrs and 59 mins of daylight since the solstice (1 hr 41 min on sunrises, 2 hrs 18 mins on sunsets) and 1 hr and 23 mins since the equinox. Sun angle has dropped now by 34.6 degrees since the solstice and 11.1 degrees since the equinox, meaning we're about 73% of the way between the solstices in terms of peak sun angle, and 46% of the way between the equinox and winter solstice. Sun angle is directly overhead now at 11.12 S and on the horizon at 78.88 N.

Today (October 31st):
Herndon, VA; 38.97 N
Sunrise: 07:35:33 Solar Noon: 12:52:55 Sunset: 18:10:18 Length of Day: 10:34:45 Peak Sun Angle: 36.86 degrees
Last day of October! Looks pretty winter-like in terms of daylight and sun angle, which makes sense (sun angles are equivalent to roughly February 10th now). We've lost 4 hrs and 23 mins since the solstice in day length (1 hr 50 mins in sunrises, 2 hrs 33 mins in sunsets), and sun angles have dropped by 37.6 degrees since the summer solstice and 14.2 degrees since the fall equinox (so about 80% of the way between summer and winter solstice, 60% of the way between the equinox and winter solstice). Sun angle is now directly overhead (90 degrees) at 14.17 S and on the horizon (0 degrees) at 75.83 N.
