I'm just being prepared and wanting to know what you all think. We're a small group and eventually, whether it's six months, a year, whatever, some people will move on with their lives and get bored of this place, the forum will get quieter and there'll be nobody left for us to invite here who wants to come. Opening this place up to the public is a last resort as far as I'm concerned because it would feel like a different forum to what we've got now, but it's only right to have somewhere where people can talk about whether we want a forum that's going to keep going indefinitely or one that's just for us.

Everytime we have a couple of quiet weeks this sort of irrational panic begins. Forgetting that just 2/3 weeks ago we were still setting new records. We have a solid core of people who are committed to this place, so the foundations are solid. I'm more concerned with quality of posting rather than quantity, remember that early on most of our activity came from trolling and trash-talking CD. In terms of activity, obviously a place like this destined to decay eventually, unless there is a regular flow of new users into the place. Perhaps some members could be given the task of scouting other forums and finding fresh blood? There's no shortage of weather forums out there. I wouldn't even consider making this place public an option. It'll be trolled out of existence, alone is sure to find out and launch a full-scale assault with his clone army.

Was creating this thread a ploy to increase activity? I keed, I keed But yeah, I'm in agreement that quality is more important than quantity, and that it's far too soon to panic. As has been said, we do have quite a solid core of people who post often/regular posters and the ones that are weak posters I guess are kind of weeding themselves out. Also, there's been periods of slower activity before, so I don't see it as a big deal tbh. The law of averages being on our side, I'm sure there will be a period soon where we have a sudden uptick in activity and all of this is gonna seem silly.

I’ve definitely noticed the decline in activity, but maybe that’s because I’ve had a bunch of days off lately so spent more time on the forum.
I think it’s fine for now and I’d personally rather have quiet then active with moronic droolers.
Shitty data is now just a bunch of idiots and the accuweather forum is just a bunch of Cambiums. No personality whatsoever there, might as well just be a robot forum. Don’t really know of any other forums to get people from.
I doubt a bunch of us will leave this forum unless it gets really quiet due to the absence of another option, but I don’t see that happening soon.

Oh we're fine as things are right now, I started this thread to gather people's thoughts on how opening this forum up could work and at what point it would be worth it, if any. There's no way I'd do something as drastic as opening it up without putting it to a vote. But you would go as drastic as telling me to shut up, twice. The next time I will be given a 'warning', which likely means a warning without a vote. Did we agree upon warnings without voting? No, we did not. Just saying.

I'm getting tired of writing to you about this Like I've said before, be civil or you'll be given your first warning. Nice threats, when warnings aren't even a thing before... now?

I will keep posting here. Yesterday was surprisingly dead for sure, but I noticed a pattern where some days are quiet and others quite busy. People are active/inactive as their real life activities dictate I guess, sometimes they can spend more time on here, other times not so much. Sometimes they might feel like posting a lot, other times not as much. Some of our membership base simply only post occasionally, which was the case at C-D aswell.
As a reference, the Weatherzone forums are not very active, I mean the Vic and SA sections can go days without posts, and when it does get activity, it's nothing but moronic hyperbole. The Australian Weather Forum isn't very active either, and when it does get posts, again, all moronic wank.
C-D isn't particularly active since the great Yac Wank purge, and any activity there these days is not even worth toilet paper.

I don't think there's any active Finnish weather forum out there, so I'm quite useless in possible recruiting. Yeah, and I don't use the Weatherzone forum so I can't recruit anyone from there. I also think Beercules would die of a stress heart attack if I did. haha there's a handful of non-dickhead individuals on that forum, particularly in the NSW section. The SA, Vic and TAS sections are just a complete cumpilation of gutter dribble. There's 2 guys off the top of my head who would fit right in here, "Twister01" and "Wave Rider". Another likely candidate would be "EddyG".

I usually prefer to write briefly in shoutbox not-longer-than-140-characters than posting on the thread for a casual talk part, but I'd post in regular period for sharing statistics and other fun thread topics.

I was outdoors on the bike for almost three hours earlier today, hence not many posts from me this particular day overall That's just how life is sometimes.
