A small town roughly 35km from Melbourne, it has a climate reminiscent of something from the north-eastern ranges of Victoria. I give it a C, it's got nice summer highs, winter frosts and rainfall for the area but lows are overall too low.

A-
Perfect means in summer although diurnals and heat extremes are slightly above optimal. Winters are very comfortable and frequent frosts only improve the excitement levels!

B+, by inland standards. Splendid diurnals, but lows in winter aren't freezing enough and frost isn't as common as I'd like. It is also a bit too low in elevation, thus reducing its total of storms and fog.

Those cold crummer lows are a disgrace and the winters are damp and skin penetrating. It does however have the warmest avg summer highs and most thunderstorms in the Melbourne area. Still prefer it hotter though.

E, quite comfortable in terms of temperatures, but not enough seasonal variation by my tastes. Too warm in winter and too cool in summer. Also, it's presumably too sunny for my tastes.

Like Melbourne in general, you don't have to worry about sunshine in winter. Coldstream itself doesn't have cloud or sunshine data, but the 2 nearest stations, Mt St Lenard and Mt Dandenong do, these are around ~15km from Coldstream. They are more elevated and probably slightly cloudier, but gives you an idea. No. of cloudy days at Mt Dandenong and daily sunshine hours at Mt St Lenard.

If I'm looking at this correctly, it comes out to about 5.1 hours of sunshine per day over the year, which comes out about 1900 annual sunshine hours? That's actually close to ideal for me so not bad.

So cloudier than Melbourne? I was undecided between B+ or A- so going with B+. Comfortable, nights too chilly; kinda boring. Borderline A
