Britain maded climate like Sweden in late 1600's, temperature imbalances in the Atlantic may have kicked off the heavy cyclones.

so sustained winds 87-96 mph with gusts probably much higher; damage of a borderline category 1-2 hurricane but probably over a greater area. Doesn't say much about storm surge but waves must have been huge; landfalling pressure was 950 mb, higher than Sandy's 940 mb. So probably churned up less sea than Sandy, still very big.
