Not much t-storm activity here lately. Only 0.07 inches of rain this September so far. Some low-end t-storm chances in the forecast next week with an increase in heat and humidity.

Except from activity we got from Irma it's been quiet here too. We had a storm on Wednesday of last week and haven't gotten anything since. Ironically as I typed this, I heard a huge thunderclap outside lol.

We had a nice thunderstorm on the 1st or 2nd and nothing since. I'm fine with trading decent storms for a 13-day-and-counting dry spell though.

Stepped outside and saw lightning. Hearing occasional thunder. The tstorm will probably move away.

Only one thunderstorm this month, and even that wasnβt a real one. Just a small pop up cell with 2 or 3 rumbles of thunder. Of the 14 thunderstorms this year, Iβd say maybe 3 or 4 were legitimate.
Another year, another dud. Better than the past few years, but those years were complete fails. Idk whatβs going on.

We have a 40% chance of thunderstorms today, which means we'll probably get jack shit. It's been a boring month here with the exception of Irma.

Didn't get an overhead thunderstorm really this year. Shame, but not surprising.
Probably the least convective year in my memory. Had a few rumbles in August and one thundery shower in September (that died pretty much as it came overhead) and that's about it.

It's partly that and also the maritime moderation making the air too stable. An actual proper overhead thunderstorm only happens about twice a year on average. A lot of these storms are non surface based ones (elevated storms) on a plume of warm air. But we just got unlucky and missed those this year.

I've heard about you hating Buxton quite a lot, why haven't you moved to lower elevation? Plenty of 21C summers nearby!

I've heard about you hating Buxton quite a lot, why haven't you moved to lower elevation? Plenty of 21C summers nearby! It's a work in progress! Was thinking of moving this year actually, to somewhere like Sheffield, but it got a bit delayed. Hopefully, 2018 will be the year.

I hope you'll succeed! I live in NykΓΆping, which is as warm as Ipswich in July. I couldn't handle it without summers like that in such a miserable climate as mine Even this summer we had a 22C July avg high in spite of no day going above 25.6C. It was remarkably thunderstorm-free though: there was one quite nearby but not really affecting NykΓΆping. It's a partially subarctic and partially rearward-Scandes low-rain zone though, which has its impact. Similar to England's east coast in that regard.

Summers sound alright over there actually. Definitely better than Buxton's, and also for some reason even though we're further south than you the UK always seem to be the magnet for low pressure systems almost all the year round haha.

# of days with thunder so far this year:
January: 0 February: 0 March: 1 April: 4 May: 5 June: 9 July: 9 August: 7 September: 3
Total: 38
This number is very inflated as just 1 small rumble of thunder counts. My estimate on days with actual thunderstorms:
January: 0 February: 0 March: 1 April: 3 May: 3 June: 6 July: 6 August: 2 September: 1
Total: 22

Looks like quite the t-storm northwest of Alexandria. Too bad it's not coming my way. Seems to be moving slowly to the northeast.

There was a small thunderstorm this morning, probably the latest Iβve experienced.
Dates of last thunderstorm the past few years:
2013: October 6 2014: October 25 2015: October 24 2016: September 18 2017: November 5?

Just had an unexpected thunderstorm associated with the cold front passage. The thunder was quiet, with strobe-like flashing in the clouds. There have been some reports of hail in Kentucky, as well as a 48 mph wind gust in Lexington.

Thunderstorm here overnight last night with the frontal passage. Thunder woke me up at 3 AM and seemed fairly frequent. A report of wind damage in the area.
