Jesus, both of these climates are really shitty.....both F climates. But I choose Death Valley I guess for the possibility of harder freezes during winter.

San Luis Rio by a mile. Much cooler summers and somewhat warmer winters. SLR is an A- whereas Death Valley is a D-.

San Luis Río Colorado doesn't look worse than Phoenix really, although still an E it surely is manageable with an AC and a good dose of drinking water.
Death Valley though, the less said, the better. Absolute literal hell on earth.
