Probably not what Antarcticus had in mind when he created this thread but it is most certainly folk music:

Mariner's shanties from my splendorous collection(s); as genuine folk as it gets! A.L. Lloyd (Australian; older voice) & Ewan MacColl (British; younger, but deeper voice) are the chief singers: Chief singer in "Paddy West"—A.L. Lloyd:
Chief singer in "Row Bullies Row"—Ewan MacColl:
Chief singer in "The Banks of Newfoundland"—Ewan MacColl:
Chief singer in "The Whale-Catchers"—A.L. Lloyd:

My other favourites from his Packing My Things album in my above post (Songs of New Zealand). Blimey, how I love this sort of music...just bloody sad at how much music has downgraded over the past century.

Really not sure about which is the best thread for this... Anyway, today (Apr 25th) is the 75th anniversary or the partisans insurrection that lead to the end of WWII in Italy. We are still celebrating the day every year, calling it Liberation Day. To celebrate the day we mostly wave flags around and sing old partisan songs, which means that for today the old partisan song "Bella Ciao!" is everywhere around the country. So, here there is the song: ^ this video is from a TV program made for the 70th anniversary It could also be interesting to report the lyrics: ORIGINAL LYRICS
ENGLISH
One morning I woke up oh bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao, ciao, ciao, one morning I woke up and I found the invader. Oh partisan, take me away oh bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao, ciao, ciao, oh partisan take me away that I'm feeling like dying And if I die as a partisan oh bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao, ciao, ciao, and if I die as a partisan you must bury me You will bury me over there, on the mountain oh bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao, ciao, ciao, you will bury me over there on the mountain under the shadow of a beautiful flower And all the people passing by oh bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao, ciao, ciao, and all the people passing by will say "what a beautiful flower!" And this is the flower of the partisan oh bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao, ciao, ciao, dead for our freedom and this is the flower of the partisan dead for our freedom

One of A.L. Lloyd's first albums ever; VIC and NSW themed (with one song SA themed). Also, since it isn't a "-topic" upload, this video shouldn't be blocked in any country—which is why I've chosen to post it (because unfortunately, so many folk songs are country-restricted on gaybo YouTube). That aside, it doesn't get more traditional than this, with excellent audio quality for its recording period.
0:00–2:27 = The Flash Stockman
2:28–6:49 = Click Go The Shears
6:50–8:58 = One Of The Has-Beens
8:59–12:07 = The Road To Gundagai
12:08–16:02 = The Maryborough Miner
16:03–20:00 = South Australia
20:01–22:15 = Lachlan Tigers
22:16–26:23 = The Shearer's Dream
26:24–28:44 = Wallaby Stew
28:45–32:06 = Wild Rover
32:07–35:15 = Bluey Brink
35:16–39:43 = Across The Western Plains

Pretty out-of-character for the The Settlers (British band)…and it's bloody good! Love the lyrics especially.
