Portugal in this scenario is strictly about the mainland, since throwing Madeira and the Azores in would be a bit like crediting Pennsylvania with Bermuda and Sable Island. Mainland Portugal: 89,138 sq km Pennsylvania: 119,283 sq km Main climates: Portugal: Pennsylvania:

Portugal's worst climate destroys anything than Pennsylvania has to offer.
Portugal by a mile.
Hands off Bermuda! That is ours.

Hands off Bermuda! That is ours. I know it is It's just a geographical analogy as of why Madeira shouldn't be used in a Portugal climate battle as a source.

Portugal - just. I like the convective summers of Pennsylvania, but I prefer the mild winters and equally pleasant summers of Portugal. The only downside with Portugal is that the summer weather is prone to be boring.

What? Why? I thought you liked real winters. It wasn't an easy decision for that reason, but the extra sun and longer warm/comfortable season just edged it for Portugal.

The northern coast of Portugal wins easily over anywhere in Pennsylvania.

Philly has one of my favorite climates in the Northeast, but Portugal is still much better

However, I would take Lisbon over Philly in a heartbeat with those winters. Same latitude too drives me crazy. You guys may have the your flag flying over Bermuda, but it is dominated by Americans lol as you can be there in an hour from NYC. And they take our US dollars lol. Thank god you still own Bermuda lol, as we would have ruined it. In fact, I wish you had kept all of the 13 original colonies and just incorporated us into the UK. We would be far better off today.

About 10-12F warmer year round which makes a huge difference
