0.40” (10 mm) of rain fell in Rochester, putting us over 2” for the month. Probably wipes out the “abnormally dry” classification from last week High/low of 73/66 (23/19 C) today and most of the day has been rainy. Thank god I’m not there. Not even any thunder. But... Saturday is supposed to get to 95 (35 C) and then 97 (36 C) on sunday. Hopefully it’ll be the hottest since 2012 or even earlier with a good overshoot. Since I’ve gotten to Moab, the highs have been 98, 97, 96, 103? and probably 105+ today. And it’s been really dry too. Means I have to hike in the early morning and then find something to do the rest of the day but it’s still great.

The GFS raw data-based forecast has highs in the mid-30s and lows in the mid-20s together with a 50 mm+ storm for Paris. Ah, one can dream.

rain before the heat usually we don't get a big rainstorm before a heat wave. Typically builds up gradually. shows a typical warm front than cold front following and then heat builds after the cold front? Weird. Maybe the fronts are labeled badly? 500 hPa just shows a ridge building and moving east

Pretty expansive heat wave in the South/Central US right now, with heat advisories from Alabama all the way up to Minnesota! This heat wave is going to bring heat indices up to 110-115 F in some areas, Minneapolis has a high of 99 F predicted for tomorrow with heat indices up to 110 F! Wouldn't be surprised if some really high readings will happen. In the next few days, this ridge of high pressure will push east bringing very hot, borderline extreme heat to the Northeast US.

Reached 97F yesterday and today and pretty much no precip in the area lately. Will probably have similar conditions the next couple of days, but wetter pattern forecast for next week fortunately.

We are well overdue for a heatwave. A true heatwave hasn't really happened much since the early 2010s. Time to end that

That's it, Paris finally made it to 30°C, after missing the mark repeatedly since April. And with decent humidity too, currently 31°C with a 18°C dew point.

Hasn’t London and a lot of Norway reached 30C? Obviously Norway’s less correlated (anti-correlated) but London should be
