Fall colors becoming more and more noticable. These yellow maples look more decayed than fallish. I guess the lack of sun gives a lack of spectacular fall colors as well. This birch in Tavelsjö has soon lost all of its leaves... I hate birches. Ugly sod of a tree. And I don't know what the hell Lommaren is on about because Stockholm is as green as ever pretty much. And fuck man. Why does northern Sweden have to have such ugly and boring vegetation. Every single park here in Stockholm (and there are very many) looks as stunning as any park I've seen anywhere. Everything is simply more beautiful down here. This is just from walking 800m from the subway to the police thing I had.

Haha must be the urban microclimate and those warm nights... I've seen a birch near the harbour here looking ever to autumn-shaped a few days ago Keep in mind that urban Stockholm is 2C warmer than here during summer nights and has a warmer summer mean than most of Scania. Stockholm has some great nature for being a capital city though This is how some bushes looked in the Nyköping harbour tonight though

Nice pics. I'm back in Umeå and some trees are starting to look quite brilliant.

Early autumn is a time of epic skies here: Same here Hiromant. Through a train window the other day so far from ideal but yeah We probably got a dose of the same weather system travelling across the Baltic region.

^ When I was in Stockholm I experienced the oddest form of rain in my life. The sun was shining in from the side, and above us there were clouds. It was drizzling, but it was the most miniscule form of drizzle ever. Every three seconds you'd get hit by the tiniest of drops, barely feelable, barely seeable even though the sun was shining on them, yet it drizzled and did so for at least 10 minutes. Really strange Either way-- It's nearly impossible to find a birch that hasn't got at least a few yellow leaves now. The "noble trees" (as we call them in Sweden) are still generally completely green. That's oak, maple, elm, and chestnut (and also linden, although they usually have a few yellow leaves now). Elm is on the border though, with a lot of trees having a few ugly decay-yellow leaves. Alders, poplars and goat willows are generally completely green as well. Sadly, because we're the City of Birches, it's nearly impossible to find a view completely lacking yellow leaves. This is probably the best you'll get. (This is one of the main parks downtown, and apparently the lawns are filled with dangerous narcotics (shrooms). Pretty green except a few yellow leaves in the elms (and the off-color birch). This part of the riverside walk was made of just elm and bird cherry. Looked very lush, but even here a few yellow leaves ruin the illusion. (Looking into the same grove) Fun fact: this is the only place I've been in northern Sweden where I've found wild/naturalized elms. I guess it's an unusually good position though on a south-facing slope next to the river...

Yeah I guess so, also have you looked at places in coastal Ångermanland that are milder during winters? Umeå is such exceptionally mild in January compared to say Skellefteå in relative terms so little surprise it's down there

Umeå is such exceptionally mild in January compared to say Skellefteå in relative terms so little surprise it's down there My grandma lives in Rundvik but I haven't found any noble trees there except for a bunch of maples though I think. Honestly I haven't looked much in any place other than Umeå and Tavelsjö. Only in the last two oso years have I even been interested in climates and trees and I haven't been anywhere in Norrland really except where I live and along the roads when we drove up from Småland last summer. Elm is a really uncommon ornamental tree here and I totally see why; they really are the most boring noble tree. Oak and maple are definitely nicer. Thus, they rarely get the chance to naturalize and spread. I'm sure they could naturalize in far more places.

While nature has definitely taken on an orange tinge, some places still look and feel like summer with the 17°C heatwave going on.

A couple of dozen miles inland from Umeå, the trees have already started peaking. On our way to our cabin. You can get the jist of what the colors are at least. Owen would be proud. A little bit less owenesque. Having arrived at our destination we leave Owen territory.

I took this is at around solar noon today. Trees are going orange and shadows are getting long regardless of the 18°C blue dome weather.

The chilli plant is looking past its best. But it still continues to produce peppers.
