Cool looking sky on my way to work a couple weeks ago: I took a similar absolutely freakazoid sunset picture yesterday but it would give too much details about my address so I'm not going to post it No worries, we can get your address from divisionbyzero.

Sorry bad pic, all the trees seem bare, but the rising sun maded the pic quite dark. Maybe 30% had some leaves on them: Bare, green and autumn colours here:

One of the lakes, one that's in a very blatant frost hollow valley (there's always fog and frost in the mornings there even when there isn't any up where we live), has frozen now. Thickness was about 2 cm, just enough for me to stand on it. I tried going a little further back but abandoned the plan when the ice started cracking. Really was glass-clear. Plants were frozen in time. I tried stomping through the ice. It wasn't easy as I didn't wanna put my whole weight into it... I tried skipping rocks, and man, it sounded exactly like in this video. Really cool. You guys should try it if you ever find a thin-layered glass-clear frozen lake this winter.

Despite the shit climate your area is really beautiful, your photos are even more beautiful when it's sunny there. Still no fall colors here despite the more fall-like temps (I guess 68/56 is probably more summer like to you but it's record cold this time of year for us). Another week or two of lows in the 50's would do it but unfortunately that's not in the cards. I'm seeing an average to below average period looking likely from Late November into Early December so hopefully we'll get some trees to turn (Of the 10% that turn here of course, rest are green year round). If we get a good cold period in a month or so I'll head over to the bald cypress forests in everglades to (hopefully) get some really nice shots of south florida fall color with my drone.

South Florida is so close to the tropics though, I'm surprised it gets a barren fall and winter. How far south do you have to go to get rid of winter completely?

Most trees here don't turn because it isn't cold enough for going bare to be advantageous but our wintet is cool enough (even more so in good years) for the deciduous trees that are here to turn although this usually doesn't happen until around early December. Another thing that probably helps is the fact that despite our averages being mild (59/75 here and 53/75 in the everglades) South florida is pretty unstable during winter meaning that we'll have days of 63/45 weather (more like 64/40) inland pretty commonly during normal winters along with periods of 80/72 weather (more like 83/68 inland).
You quoted me twice there I'm also surprised the Af climate has deciduous trees
They're probably vestiges from a colder period or something lol. I'm happy they're here though. I'm really hoping for a good stretch of cool sunny weather. To get good bald cypress colors (the most populous deciduous tree in the everglades) things need to go just right.

It's snowing quite heavily in Tavelsjö. There is still perhaps 7 cm of snow. In Umeå there seems to be quite a difference between the more central areas and the outskirts Edit: Fuck. That upper webcam is listed as Umeå and I've always thought it to be. Apparently it's in Skellefteå though...

The sky was absolutely blazing this afternoon. I don't have Lightroom on this stupid Mac though, and the inbuilt RAW editor is completely useless so I can't make it look near as cool as it did in real life... Stupid Mac editing software...

We went up on the local mountain/hill. Dog enjoyed it. Sun started to set. Tavelsjö from afar (although it's only a third of the town/village) The sunset was even more fiery than yesterday. Really cool.

Convective clouds yesterday evening. I think there was one isolated t-storm in the area. Got up to 86F (30C) yesterday afternoon - 2F below the daily record set back in 1971.
