Why would neutrals root for them From my personal experience, there's not many City or Chelsea fans around (Chelsea have a big following in the south, but City aren't big outside of Manchester except for glory hunting fans who live abroad). So when those teams win stuff, I don't come across many of their fans obnoxiously gloating. Liverpool, Man Utd and to a lesser extent, Everton, are massive around my neck of the woods. So if they win, and you don't want it rubbed in your face, it's advised that you stock up on essential supplies, purchase a WWII air raid shelter and go into hiding for a few weeks. |

What's wrong with Liverpool? As an Arsenal fan, they're pretty much the only other top team I've ever gotten behind as a neutral. United, Chelsea, City and Spurs on the other hand... |

Glad you asked. Liverpool is the most supported foreign club in Finland. As Finland has always been more or less shitty in football both domestically and internationally, we have a lot of gloryhunter plastic fans rooting for traditional English clubs while shitting on domestic football. There's a lot of so-called football fans who are like "the Finnish league is rubbish, I'll rather whore for Liverpool / Man Utd / Real Madrid / Barcelona, because they play REAL ENTERTAINING football". Me again who think the Finnish League is the most interesting one, because it's the world's best Finnish league, do feel contemption towards the gloryhunters. Liverpool just happens to be the worst terrorist. It's nothing personal towards Razza or any other Liverpool fan here.
And additionally: hockey is the most popular sport in Finland, at least financially and in the media. I, as a football fan see hockey as an enemy and a drain of resources. Therefore I wish that Finland does poorly in every international competition, and I do not root for any Finnish NHL players to succeed either.
Except when Finland plays against Russia. Then I just have to root for Finland.
