The early years of the tournament are pretty meaningless due to the format at the time, and how long ago it was.
That being said, Sweden look like the sort of team England would struggle against.

Well let's just say Sweden appropriated British football to such a degree that the team became the stereotype of a battling side in the FA Cup...
As for Sweden as a footballing nation, five consecutive Euro qualifications don't lie. The amount of teams participating in all Euros since 2000 stops at:
France Germany Italy Portugal Sweden
Yes, five nations only. That says it all about Sweden: always very consistent and a tough team to play against. Seems like people are driving around with the horn on around town right now...
Sure Sweden missed out on the World Cup three times in the last 20 years, but only in 1998 was that due to a shameful performance. They went out against Austria and Scotland as the group's top seed. In 2010 and 2014, Sweden came up short to Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal, twice.

Dunno why, but Sweden lowkey scare the shit out of me. They won't put 7 balls past you, but they have a really well organized defense that can frustrate the best teams in the world. Doesn't help that Grandqvist is playing out of his mind

Sweden are better without Zlatan.

Sweden are better without Zlatan. Also much more likeable, also back in 2015 they had a disgraceful PC refugees welcome spectacle against Austria which really turned me against them, especially that twat Kim Källström and his virtue-signalling during press conferences. So long as Källström and Zlatan still played there and they had the embarassing, spineless Erik Hamrén as coach who let that spectacle go on I rooted for Sweden's opponents in Euro 2016. They're still a symbol of the PC politics but at least it's toned down.

Predictions of the quarter finals then? I say the semis will look like:
Brazil-France (sadly Belgium seem prone to choking but I hope I'm wrong) Croatia-England

FIFA really need to start coming down hard on this play-acting. Players caught doing it need to be given red cards, retrospective if necessary, it'll soon stop. This shit is one of the main things preventing the sport from expanding into the remaining lucrative markets, such as the US.
