Very unpredictable world cup this has been. Teams usually seen as very good have eaten their own shit this time, whereas previously nothing-teams like Croatia have sudden excelled to global quality status.

Well done Croatia. I don't have to hear "it's coming home" for another four years. Thank God.

I'll definitely be rooting for Croatia to win it all.

England will get a reality check tonight. A prediction that went through a few grey hairs but still aged well in the end

The only cup England can beat over anyone else is a cup of warm tea.

Croatia deserved it, very good team. Modric and Rakitic ran the show in the second half.
Hopefully Croatia win it now.

This England team has been overrated, it has no creativity in midfield, and struggles to score from open play. As soon as they came up against a quality opponent they were well beaten.
That being said, they were the youngest team in the tournament, and in the last year they've won the U17 and U19 World Cups. So the future looks bright.

Nobody expected this team to get out of the groups or past the R16, so to say they were overrated is not really accurate. We were probably the better team in the first half, but were so bad in the 2nd that we were never going to win. I think Croatia will beat France in the final.

Not sure why, because until the semis they didn't play a team that you wouldn't expect them to beat, except for Belgium. Yet by the semis the "it's coming home" chants had become unironic. There seemed to be a real belief prior to the game that they were better than Croatia.

There seemed to be a real belief prior to the game that they were better than Croatia. Had Kyle Walker engaged in serious marking Perisic wouldn't have scored 1-1 and things might had turned out differently. Ultimately, England's main problem yesterday was that they became overly careful and only tried safe passes all the time rather than getting throughballs onto the pacy wingers who could've locked the ball a bit further up. Southgate simply got outcoached, and it was a bit reminiscent of how Middlesbrough underachieved and lost their safe Premier League spot when he was there. Then it was also negative football and isolating the strikers due to an absence of creative freedom of wingers. In 2008-09 Stewart Downing didn't score a goal all season at the top of his career, and I firmly square that on Southgate's negative football philosophy.

Sterling, Ali, and Lingard were all pretty useless, no creativity whatsoever, and Sterling mostly runs around like a headless chicken. Kane has been pretty poor also, the only goal he' scored from open play was a deflection against Panama. Pickford, Trippier, Maguire, Stones and Henderson were the key players for England.

Croatia played in the same qualifying group as Finland, and if somebody would've said then that Croatia will play in the World Cup final, I would've laughed my ass off.

Not really, the only surprising bit being that Denmark and Russia qualified from the group.
