Bad bad June here. The blocking High was just a little too far south, giving cold and cloudy NW many days. Can't remember last time the difference from Trondheim to Oslo was this large in June.
Trondheim Airport Mean -0.8°C compared to the old 1961-90 normal
Another warm month in Drammen. Mean + 2.9°C compared to 61-90 normal.
Stavanger SW coast. Mean + 1.3°C compared to 61-90 normal
For the country as a whole, temperature was 0.5°C above 61-90 normal. The real story was how uneven it was - up to 3°C warmer than avg in the south and up to 2 below average in the far north.
Warmest high: 33.8°C in Eggedal, which had avg high 25.4°C and 8 days above 30°C in June (10 in total so far in 2018). Coldest low: -6.8°C Gamanjunni (1237 m).
Precipitation was 115 % for the country. Several stations in the far north (Troms, Nordland) had their wettest June ever, including some stations with recording since 1907. Wettest: 278.5 mm Sisovatnet (NE of Bodø, 600 m) Driest: 0.6 mm Mjøen in Oppdal (S of Trondheim)
Tromsø (20 m) recorded only 58 sunhrs in June, a crushing new record for gloomiest June, and also wettest ever with 137.4 mm. Mean was 7.7°C (-1.3°C).
Arctic: Svalbard Airport / Longyearbyen had mean 4°C (+2°C), 91 consecutive months warmer than normal.

June in my nearest station: daily mean temperature + 0.2c, precipitation about 90%, sunshine hrs about 115% of average.

Saskatoon 2018, using the SRC station data... This year is probably gonna give 2001 a run for its money as the driest on record if we don't get a significant increase in precipitation over the summer. The above average sunshine continues as well, we're about 322 sunshine hours ahead of average at this point of the year. June was several degrees warmer than average and despite a very cool start to July it looks like we're going back above average again soon.

I'm late, as per usual... June 2018 temperatures (difference with the 1981-2010 average): Record high: 17.0° ( N/A) Average high: 6.0°C ( -0.1°C) Daily mean: 1.6°C ( +0.1°C) Average low: -2.5°C ( +0.3°C) Record low: -12.5°C ( N/A) What a month June was. We had the first snowfall of the year in June 9th and on top of that it was very unusual because usually in Esquel snow happens after a long period of rain but this time it happened without so the snow accumulated pretty fast (even though it was a light snow) and after the snowfall it didn't look like snow but rather like baby powder or volcanic ash. I guess this is how snow usually looks like in places with very cold winters like the center of North America or Russia. Max depth was around 15 cm. Not bad, but not the 50 cm of last year which obviously were kinda historic. The snow lasted for about a week and after that we had a period of relative warm temperatures. The highest low, 10.6°C/51.1°F, happened during that period. It kinda felt like summer In the last day of the month we got more snow (this time after rain) which caused July to experience the lowest temperature of the year so far, -17.5°C (almost 0°F) and the lowest high, -6.5°C (20.3°F). The year so far:

was not in Amherst April and May but choosing Amherst anyway. Later version of my weather box I should # of snowy days [would be a total of 13 days with snowfalling, 6 more for the season with December; 52 days for the season of snow on the ground). Sunshine is not from Amherst, but from Blue Hill Observatory, a hill about 10 miles southwest of the center of Boston. Only 600 feet, so elevation shouldn't make a big difference. Now, for just June. Cold start to June. Nights stayed on the cool side for most of the month, mostly at or below average with decently high diurnal ranges. Lots of clear blue sky days. Used the 0.01 mm threshold for the rain chart. Thought it'd be more below average; but the few above average days was enough to bring the month up to only 0.4°F below average. Rather a low threshold, only six days were truly "rainy", didn't feel like rain happened that often. One day (looks like two since it was evening to next afternoon) it started rainy moderately heavy continuously. Not intense for summer rain standards, but 12 hours adds up to more than most short thunderstorms.

Gross too dry. Especially that May month. Though seriously, with all that winter and early spring rain, can it even look dry looking if a couple summer months get little rain? At least the water reservoirs shouldn't have issues from lack of summer rain… Stealing some storms California usually gets? Any sunshine data for Vancouver?

Christ nei your hometown is cold af the coldest was from a big cold snap; rather big local variation, the hills trapped the coldest air. Was only -11°F (-25°C) where I was. cdweather.boards.net/post/26725/threadThat January cost a ton of $ in heating. If your electricity was the same price / kWh here it'd be small compared to how much heat costs here.

"Only" -25C How much do you pay for heating in winter? I rarely use the heating here, aircon on the other hand is what costs me. I did have to turn the heater on a handful of times thus far though. But nah my main expense comes from A/C. Basically your January is my January in terms of climate control expense

Though seriously, with all that winter and early spring rain, can it even look dry looking if a couple summer months get little rain? Definitely. Regardless of how wet a particular winter season was, every summer I've spent in the Vancouver region had yellow grass from roughly mid-July to early September. The only exception was 2016 where it was still green at the end of July due to cool, rainy conditions through most of the month, but then turned yellow in August anyway. I think the soil in Vancouver is used to the copious amounts of rain in the winter, so when you get a few weeks without moisture it dries up very quickly and kills the grass.

Even with the wetter than normal April here, things dried out really quickly in May. A lot of grass was crunchy. It's been wetter recently so the grass is hanging on now but it looks like that will end after tomorrow. nei

I moved to a large apartment by myself last year, good deal but was expensive to heat. Had to have been at least $700 for the season.

Just noticed how horrific March and April were there; April in Amherst was only a few degrees below normal Easily the worst March-April I’ve experienced. April was especially anomalous, the coldest since 1975. Our February and May were much warmer than yours though. Didn’t realize how much cooler May was near the east coast.

Finally our regional environmental agency decided to provide an automatic way for checking the recent weather record (previously they used to publish the data twice a year, or you had to write them an email and then pay). So I managed to put together some measures for the first half of 2018 from around my place. Generally speaking, the year so far in here has been: - January: relatively warm and rainy, with the most of the rain concentrated in just two days - February and March: they mostly stand out because of the cold wave, between 25th of February and the 4th of March. - April had a sort of heat wave at the end of the month, for the rest quite average - May was freaking rainy (more in terms of rainy days than of rain amounts) - In June the summer made us wait for a while, but in the end the monthly averages are not so different from the last few years. Here there are the data from the closest weather station to my village. The weather station is located in here (altitude 520 m). My village is about 100 m above the station and in a slightly more rainy spot. ^ for some reason there were some serious issues on the data relative to the high temps in several days of February, and a week of rain amounts data are missing from May. That's quite a shame... I also picked two other weather stations. The first one is in the high part of my valley, in here (1353 m of altitude, even during the winter that spot is quite sunny). While the other one is the weather station in the city center of Turin, in here (altitude 239 m). Note: the rainy days threshold is set to 0.2 mm.
