This thread used to exist on City-Data, and a good one it was too.
So, as it says, have your preferences of weather and temperatures changed much, if at all in your life and in what ways?
As an example, I used to think I really liked hot weather, but actually I don't so much now, and I find hot and sunny weather in particular boring as hell. Seems like I just liked the "idea" of heat moreso than the reality of it. 25-28°C is more than enough for me now I find.
My dream climates are no longer tropical ones but subtropical with regular thunderstorms in the warm season. I still love thunderstorms and like mild winters, but no longer have much interest in hot (and especially dry) summers. What about you?

I used to enjoy winter and snow in my childhood, but as I grew up and started running every day I hated cold and snow more and more. And as a Norwegian I've experienced plenty of that. I've been running outside practically every single day in all kinds of bad weather since 1998, even if it's -20 so I'm pretty sure I prefer a dry, warm and sunny subtropical or tropical climate.
That is not going to change any time soon.

My preferences haven’t changed much, I’ve always preferred subtropical climates.
I used to really want hot average highs in the summer, I’ve dialed that back a bit, from 35C+ to 30-32C.
I used to want a little snow, but now I don’t want any. I’ll take more consistent winter warmth.

I used to want a continuous snow pack in winter, but experiencing a few winters with little snow I realised I can do without it now. I prefer multiple snow events instead to look forward to, occasional winter mildness and sporadic snow cover.
Other than that my preferences have been more or less the same all the time.

I’ve always liked dry climates. That’s never changed and I don’t think it will anytime soon.
My temperature preferences have changed a lot though. Several years ago, I liked very mild climates with warm winters and summers similar to ours. I then realized that such winters would be extremely boring and I would miss the snow so I lowered my winter preferences a lot. Then after spending summer in the southwest in 2014 and 2015, I realized I loved the dry heat.

Yes, they definitely have changed, and a shit ton in the past two years.
My preferences used to be summers with about 16-18 C highs and 4-6 C lows and dry as shit (this was from 2008-2013 or so) and then around 2014-2015, my summer preferences increased to 21-24 C highs and 9-12 C lows with a good bit of rainfall, and then in 2016 I went on a summer vacation to the FL west coast (Naples) and realized that without heat and an extreme sun angle, summer just wouldn't quite have the same atmosphere. So my preferences changed for what they are now (32-35 C average highs in summer, 19-22 C average lows with loads of thunderstorms).
My winter preferences haven't changed however, I've always wanted bitterly cold and snowy winters. Though nowadays I like the idea of a mild (40-50 F) period being possible from Dec-Feb just for variety's sake.

My dream climates used to be much more continental. Imagine a hybrid of Winnipeg and Lake Tahoe. Hot summers and freeze-your-face-off winters. And they had a strong dry-summer precipitation pattern, not quite Mediterranean but close.
That was 2014. In the time since I've come to some realizations:
1. I only dislike thunderstorms because in the Midwest they are connected to tornado risk. 2. I only wanted dry summers because of the awful summer heat and humidity I've had to deal with most of my life. 3. You don't need -12C highs to have a lot of consistent snow, and furthermore, -12C highs are actually rather unpleasant.
This has led to a continuing moderating trend of my dream climate, as the average and record highs have come down and average and record lows have gone up. Precipitation has reversed completely to a wet, stormy (despite the low temperatures - dream climate magic!) summer and sunny (but still snowy) winter.

Yeah, one thing I forgot to mention is I like winters with more sunshine/clear skies now. Winter sunshine tend to be a low, golden light which is quite peaceful and nice, while summer sunshine tends to be a blinding sun and quite harsh (which is appropriate for the season, but I prefer strong thunderstorms in summer).

The summers of 2010 and 2011 made me a heat hater. I've always loved winter though.

Yes, and they still do.
As a child and young teenager I was fascinated by exotic tropical biomes and climates although even then I loved snow in winter. That fascination has mostly faded away but to this day I like the idea of growing subtropical and mediterranean plants in my garden. A few years ago I was already sure that I need some seasonal variation and that I hate my winters but I couldn't decide whether I want them colder for more snow instead of cold rain or want them milder for a year-round growing season. I wasn't too sure about summer either but most of the time I prefered slightly warmer summers than my own. What has never changed though is my love for thunderstorms.
Nowadays I'm overall more content with my climate. I like the well balanced seasonality and that I never know how the next season is going to be, winter can be very mild or cold and snowy, summer can be cool and rainy or hot and dry. I still want winters to be less boring, more sun, more snow, more mild and windy weather would be nice.

Yes. I used to hate snow in winter, but now I pray for it. Also I used to prefer summers to be very hot, probably around 35-40C, and lows in the mid to high 20's, but now I'd prefer hi/lo of around 28/20. I think because I'd experienced a lot of heat in my military days and from working abroad, I'd become accustomed to intense heat in summer. Now I'm used to spending my summers in the UK again, I've realised that extreme heat is a bit much for me.

In general I've always liked to have four clear seasons, but I've never liked too extreme temperatures. Something like "winter cool enough to have some snow, and in the summer 30°C is enough", and this hasn't changed much. Rain-wise instead, I used to dislike rain a lot because when I was younger I used to spend a lot of time outdoor, and a rainy day was synonymous of a boring day. In the last years instead I saw how troublesome a really dry year can be, and I'm also spending less and less time outdoor, so I'm starting to appreciate a moderate amount of rain more than how I used to.

Indeed—I now favour cold and snowy winters more than ever.
Winter in Western NSW used to be frequently cold and snowy; however, nowadays, owing chiefly to the subtropical ridge steering farther south down to 34° S (instead of 31° S where it used to lie decades ago), there is rather little snowfall and a marked increase in > 10° C maxima likewsie. Thus, I now particularly favour cold/wet and snowy winters due to the recent lack of them—in comparison to the past decades (i.e. before the 2000s).
This is what Winter used to look like (taken in 1968; Lowes Mount Rd. near Oberon, NSW):

I've come to realise how important some rainfall in summer is. So although I still like relatively dry summers I now prefer occasional heavy downpours.
I don't like snow and freezing temps as much as I used to when I was younger, I now accept some of the realities such as blocked roads, dangerous slippy ice, things freezing up, not being able to do some of my regular activities, etc. I'm now more appreciative of a normal winter here, although I still like the occasional snow event to liven things up.
I'm sure my preferences will change again in the future.

When I was a kid I liked summer to be really hot and dry because I wanted to be able to swim all the time. I also didn't like strong thunderstorms and was scared of severe weather. Around when I was 12-13 I liked lots of rain. T-storms and severe weather began to excite me during college years and summer dryness started annoying me. For the most part I've wanted more snow and cold during winter, but for a time I was fascinated by palm trees and wanted winters similar to areas closer to the coast. Over the past few years my weather preferences have been fairly stable. But sometimes I'm not sure how cold I want winters to be; I definitely want it colder and snowier but at times not sure how much.

I don't think so. I've always wanted summers to be warm, dry, and sunny; winters to snowy and overcast; and fall/spring to be rainy and temperate. And I don't see my preferences changing in the future.

I'm more okay with occasional hot temperatures now, and a one-month winter would be quite nice.

I have a higher tolerance for heat and humidity after having lived in the tropics for a couple of years - 27 C lows and 33 C highs are just normal for me now. I barely even use AC (although I do use a fan quite a bit).
But I feel as though I prefer more variability than most tropical / subtropical climates offer. The monotony of the climate here really does my head in.

Alright, my preferences in the annual temperature ranges have become more and more narrow compared to several years ago. Because I used to grew up in a distinct four season climate, thought the idea of frigid winter, sultry summer combined with mildy to warm transitional months(especially April/October) are dynamic and very awesome to know the extremeness of both side then well-balanced in between. Though I always like the oceanic climate from the beginning when I joined on c-d so I had put two versions of my ideal climate. One thing that didn't changed is that overall the annual temperature got maintained 10~13°C. I despise heat and believe it's nothing beneficial in modern society except for producing the agriculture IMO. My current dream climate in winter is a hybrid of Tokyo+Paris+London, not too cloudy as the latter two and not too sunny as the former so mixing them together would result fairly nice. For summer, I want majority of days are stay in 18~27°C daily maximum with occasional heatwave(30~32°C) but it shouldn't last longer than 2 days. Basically Bretagne peninsula and southern England is what I like the closest temperature-wise, just a little modify for faster warm-up in spring season.

They haven't really changed much, the only thing I can think of is that my dream climate got slightly more continental.
