Here there are a couple of pictures from my business trip in Tuscany. Basically we spent the most of the time closed inside a factory, so I basically can show you the sight from the hotel and from the trains. In these days the weather has been incredibly rainy and windy all over the country, so everything looks so grey... ^ that's the Po plain as seen from the train. I don't remember exactly where I took it, but it doesn't make a huge difference. Tuscany countryside: Sight from my hotel room. Obviously I could only see the anonymous suburbs of Arezzo, and not the historical center on the opposite site. Anyway, in the room I had a nice picture of Piazza Grande on the wall Finally, returning back we had 30 minutes between the first and the second train so we managed to see Santa Maria Novella, in Florence Returning back home instead I noticed that the snow is getting closer and closer, this morning it looks like it reaches 1500 m of altitude (more or less)

Went mountain biking in 3 different parts of Wisconsin two weeks ago (October 17-20). First day was Wednesday the 17th. 50F/10C. This was in Southern Wisconsin, but the trees near the parking lot were bare already. On the trail it was more normal for the area, close to peak color. Next day was a stop in the western part of the state. 44F/7C starting out but the high was 64F/18C. This part of the state is more hilly and rocky than the southeast part. Nice view at the top of the hill: Most of the route is in the woods. Some parts were pretty narrow with a drop-off on the side. This part had a notch cut so handlebars would fit through. Spent the rest of the day driving to the next place in Northwest Wisconsin. If you zoom in here, there's a rock balanced on another rock. How did that get there? Massive grain silo: Northern Wisconsin is known as the Northwoods. These trails were 100% dense forest so the name fits. General idea of the trees in the area: Temperature was warm, 54-61F/12-16C during the day. Leaves everywhere with rocks hiding underneath. Surprisingly still a bunch of small flies buzzing around, I thought they would have died from the cold by now. Early on there was a bridge over a river. Tried to ride over it but the water was too high to avoid getting wet. In the middle of the day there was a nice smooth winding path through a pine forest but I didn't take any pictures there. It snowed the next morning, October 20th. The first snow I've seen for the year but not the first snow for this area. The strongest part was around 9am: Temp was in the 30s all day, high temp was 37F/3C. Nice scenic snowy trail along an esker. The snow made the steep hills impossible. Took a less hilly trail after that. "High point" of 527m. No altitude sickness here Secluded lake, I wonder if anybody drags a boat out here in the summer. Random clearing after several miles of woods. Apparently this used to be a field for a scout camp. Took a gravel road part of the way back Also saw some Larch/Tamarack trees while driving. I can't remember seeing any of these in the southern part of the state. Maybe the climate is too warm?

These trees didn't get the memo that it's autumn now. Or maybe it's only because Turku has such a high indice subtropique honhonhonhonhon MDR frère?
Also a typical Povember day: drizzle, foggy and iron curtain.

Long Island last Tuesday (23rd). Severe thunderstorm was to the north in coastal Connecticut; caused tornados in Rhode Island. Beautiful mild (low 60s), low humidity day with clear skies on Long Island; didn't feel like a day that could get a storm. Must have been a cold air mass aloft creating convection? Northport, NY another view hill above Northport village looking north to Connecticut, you can see a line of storm clouds on the horizon roses still blooming clouds eventually reached us, half hour later caused a bit of drizzle but no storms

I never get to walk the dog in daylight except for on weekdays nowadays because it gets dark right around when I get home from the job. I was lucky to get sunny and relatively mild 6'C weather on my first daylight walk in a week. Took the opportunity to go a 10km trip around the lake. Very nice lighting. Southern end of the lake looking north. The lake's been very weird. It went from no ice to fully icey in one night, then it snowed a day, and then it rained a day, and after that the lake appeared to be ice-free, but that was just because of the sheet of ice being covered by 3cm of water. Then we had one sunny 8'C day, and in the evening after the sun had set, the temperature dropped to 1'C and the water on top of the ice had already started freezing despite never having been below freezing in like 2 days, and then two days later and it's almost gone, with some parts being covered by a thin sheet of ice, and some being clear. Right by that southern end it looked like this. Looks exactly like some rendition of a planned neighborhood project, like when a company is gonna build a bunch of apartments and then they make some utopian-looking computer rendering of what it's supposed to look like. This looks like it's one of those computer renderings. Weird. I found this gazebo and I thought the view was pretty pretty. Very nice colors from the turquoise sky and fire yellow reeds. I gushed so much from the colors during the whole bike ride, basically stopping to take pictures every time I saw reeds. The fire yellow of reeds and turquoise of a November sky are basically my two favorite colors. There are sooo many fireplaces along this trail. We always used to go here with school all the time whenever we had our annual outdoor recreation day, or like when we in the beginning of a school-year had to meet up and do recreational activities with the class or classes above/below us and stuff. Not this exact fireplace though. This one is for losers; we went to larger ones with huts and stuff. Very thin forestation here. Nice to see the lake through the trees. Also nice when towards the end, where the trail got a lot more bright and open.

Some pics I took of damage from tornado that came thru Wednesday night. Jeez when was the last time a tornado came thru your area? Last time a tornado was nearby was April 2, 2017 with a number of tornadoes across the area (an EF-1 tracked thru Alexandria). Here a pic I took of what I think was the remnants of an EF-2 after it lifted. www.city-data.com/forum/47718013-post1803.html EF-0 to EF-2 tornadoes occur fairly regularly in central LA (maybe an uptick in recent years) but anything stronger is quite rare. I'd say the biggest threat is from falling trees. I think the last time anyone was actually killed by a tornado in Alexandria was 1957.

a tour of NW Queens, then NW Brooklyn on Halloween. Maybe should go on non-weather photos but that gets less attention. Getting off the Woodside LIRR/subway stop and saw this across the road. I'm in Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's district boring but functional looking Queens rowhouses Someone's air drying their clothes. Must be poor! brick attached homes. Think I'm in Sunnyside now, also now in another congressional district some of the homes have a shared courtyard instead of backyard or just a back alley another garden Halloween decor denser, more "normal" Queens housing nice bike path, with no intersections, can keep a good speed and don't have to worry about cars. To the right is the railroad NYC subway going elevated over the railroad. Probably the 7 train Amtrak passing through now in Long Island City Now in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Streets were packed with trick or treaters glimpse of a new Midtown skyscraper almost sunset, back when sunset was a more sane time when we had daylight savings time Puerto Rico mural, Williamsburg under the Williamsburg Bridge this apartment had a scrolling marquee in its window. Odd

We should stick to this thread for another 23 days, after all it's still November even if there's snow out
