Jajajajaja maybe I should make a Turku Botev weatherbox using Artukainen's highs and Rajakari's lows bro.
Helsinki Kaisaniemi,

I thought I would look at Ilomantsi Pötsönvaara too, but it hasn't recorded a June or August freeze, so it's not interesting enough. I will do Utö instead...
Earliest: 13 October 1992

Umeå's University rooftop PWS vs the Airport station. A rooftop station is not subject to cold pooling unlike a large flat airfield a dozen meters below neighboring geography, since it's like 5m above the ground. The airport isn't exactly a "frost hollow" since a dozen meters isn't very huge, but it's enough to get a bunch of ground fog. The rooftop station is definitely not representative of most of Umeå, but maybe if you've got a hill somewhere, it's representative.

Normally early to mid October. For 0C air temperatures: Madison: October 8th, range September 12 to November 12 Milwaukee: October 22nd, range September 20 to November 24. Milwaukee is on the shores of Lake Michigan so it has some temperature lag and milder winters.
Average is 2000-2018, extremes are full POR

Bumping this thread to see if anyone in the northern hemisphere has seen frost yet. Babu Morningrise ? Yinz would be first I would assume Yeah, we saw -1.9'C at the airport yesterday, the first of the season. Seeing as the uni station had a 1'C low, parts of the city probably didn't see frost.

No freezes here, and that would have been unusually early. Also no freezes at the inland valley stations south of here. Røros inland at 625 m has of course freezes, as do some inland valleys further north at 65 N down to 140 m ASL. No freezes in most coastal areas, even in the Arctic coastal cities like Tromsø and Bodø. Average date for first freeze at Trondheim airport Værnes is Oct 9th.

I only voted December because the winters we do get freezes, they usually occur within a two week margin of Xmas, but it does not freeze regularly here. Our freeze on 1/2 this year was the first freeze we had in exactly 4 years (1/2/15 was the one before that)

Bar the odd year, it's pretty much always the last week of October, or first week of November for York.
