Only watched two German movies. Run Lola Run and The Lives of Others. The latter was better Toni Erdmann and Oh Boy are two contemporary German movies I can recommend. Most others suck, especially if they involve Til Schweiger

Say Anything—8/10. Very good.
North By Northwest—7/10. Good movie but overly long and it dragged on a lot.
Grosse Pointe Blank—4/10. Boring movie, boring characters, uninteresting story that I didn’t care about. Saved by some good action scenes.
LA Story—9/10. Really good. Lighthearted and funny but also moving, creative plot and likable characters that I cared a lot about. One of the best movies I’ve watched in the past year.

I haven't watched any movies this year. Not really a movie fan tbh.

Deliverance. Now I know where that toothless fella Strewthless chose as his avatar some time ago comes from. 8/10 btw. Captivating, though the director probably attended the hillbilly stereotyping 101 course.

Get Out - 10/10
Maybe will revise it down in the future, but so far think it’s fantastic. Did both suspense and horror very well, as well as having some very entertaining comedic value thrown in in the middle. Movie is two hours but felt much quicker than that. Had some obvious political undertones but they were managed very well and never felt shoehorned in. Also lots of cool plot twists, which I always love

The Searchers—8/10. I liked it a lot, Im always a fan of Westerns and this was another good one.
Extraction—5/10. Meh. Very serious and monotone. Some good action scenes though.

Unstoppable. Out of control freight trains and Denzel Washington, automatic good times. And Armageddon followed, that off-kilter russian guy slamming the components of their ship and exclaiming "Russian components, American components, ALL MADE IN TAIWAN" never gets old

Nope, never. It's the movie with Tom Hanks, right?

So far this month:
Airplane—6/10. Decent but way too absurd and over the top. Pretty overrated movie.
Sherlock Holmes—5/10. Meh. It was fine but idgaf.
The Sure Thing—8/10. Funny, enjoyable teen comedy movie.
Beverly Hills Cop 1 and Beverly Hills Cop 2—7/10. Both were funny with quite enjoyable characters. Good mix of action and humor.
Hobbs and Shaw—6.5/10. Typical fun and dumb action movie. Had some especially ridiculous action scenes near the end.
Groundhog Day—7/10. Funny and more substantive for a comedy. Got a bit repetitive at times though.
Lethal Weapon—6.5/10. Good enough but less humor than a lot of action comedies I like. The last half hour was very dimly lit and the ending was stupid.

Defending your life—7.5/10. Cute and creative comedy. Plot was surprisingly original and unpredictable for an afterlife movie.

Rewatched LotR: The Fellowship of the Ring last week. Will never get sick of that movie.
Planning to tackle The Two Towers this week.

Pulp Fiction—7.5/10.
I liked it a lot but I still thought it was overhyped. The characters were engaging and there was a good amount of humor but it was overly long, especially the first and last scenes, and it took too long until I was really in and cared what happened . The end also left me pissed and unsatisfied.

"Everything must go".
I must say, Will Ferrell is just as good in a serious role as in his trademark comedies.

Guess you just have to like QT's formula, a lot of it is based on having long conversations that have nothing to do with the plot, to some it makes the films seem drawn-out and inane at times. Personally I enjoy listening to all the humour and anecdotes. I think he also makes excellent use of music in his films, PF soundtrack is great.

I definitely liked the humor and I thought that style worked well for the middle 70% of the movie. At the beginning though, all the conversation and lack of plot as well as the abrupt switch to a completely different storyline made it hard to get into. Then at the end it started to drag on. I think if you got rid of the first and last scenes it could have been a standout movie rather than just a typical good movie.

American Beauty
Pretty solid film, though it did not age well. Some of the themes seem kinda incelish, also the creepy videotaping, and of course Kevin Spacey’s scandal as well. Though I’m happy for watching it. There were some references towards the movie in Family Guy that finally make sense. The cinematography is fantastic as well. Had a hard time believing that it’s 20 years old, it was extremely well shot
