Siberia and related (4/5-10/5): Asahikawa: 15/5 Astana: 14/4 Chita: 17/2 Harbin: 20/9 Heihe: 18/6 Irkutsk: 14/2 Khabarovsk: 14/4 Komsomolsk: 14/4 Krasnoyarsk: 8/0 Kyzyl: 14/2 Magadan: 6/-0 Mohe County: N/A Nakhodka: 11/5 Norilsk: -7/-14 Novosibirsk: 11/1 Omsk: 10/3 Oymyakon: 10/-5 Petropavlovsk: 8/1 Spassk-Dalny: 14/5 Ulaanbaatar: 17/3 Verkhoyansk: 7/-4 Vladivostok: 11/4 Yakutsk: 17/3 Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk: 7/-0 So, Yakutsk is all out of a sudden the warmest Russian city on the list and Oymyakon is forecast 10°C avg highs, meanwhile Norilsk is still stuck as -7°C avg highs and actually gets even colder than last time, in spite of it closing in fast on midnight sun and being far inland The shocker of spring in Western Siberia just lingers on even on lower latitudes, just look at Krasnoyarsk and Omsk! Magadan also gets its first double-figures high of the year if this forecast is correct as the Yakutsk heat makes its way all the way out to the coast and negates the cold water for one day only.

Siberia and related (8/5-14/5):
Asahikawa: 16/4 Astana: 17/6 Chita: 19/4 Harbin: 21/11
Imeni Poliny: 15/2 Irkutsk: 15/4 Khabarovsk: 21/9 Komsomolsk: 22/8
Krasnoyarsk: 10/1 Kyzyl: 19/5 Mohe County: 20/0 Nakhodka: 12/5
Norilsk: -3/-10 Novosibirsk: 11/3 Omsk: 11/5 Oymyakon: 10/-3
Petropavlovsk: 12/4 Qiqihar: 22/11 Spassk-Dalny: 17/6 Ulaanbaatar: 19/6
Verkhoyansk: 4/-7 Vladivostok: 12/5 Yakutsk: 10/1 Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk: 12/1
Norilsk still at -3/-10... Ouch. I know May is -1/-7 there on average but it just feels so unbelievable, high latitude or not, with all that land to its south. Yakutsk cooling down again as a cooler spell hits Sakha, but Oymyakon is not significantly warmer than Verkhoyansk instead. Komsomolsk-on-Amur is the warmest among Russian locations, even warmer than Khabarovsk 2° further south west in the same region.

With that massive low about to hit us, how could I forget this? (honestly not as cold as I expected) Also Canberra getting a significant cool down:

Vow..Norilsk is still at -7/-13, in mid May while I'm sweating here at 60N.
And the city has almost 200 000 people. That is a lot of people, living there like it was the most natural thing in the world.. I'm looking at the photos from their Facebook page and the people look like just another average slob from my city. Just mind blowing.
This place is incredibly fascinating and should really deserve it's own thread, no actually an own sub section on this forum.

What is even more concerning are the likes of Arica, San Diego, Eureka (California) etc; the very notion that they have any sort of population about them is harrowing, to say the least. Boring climates would drive common, non-autistic men right off a blasted mountain; suicidal, so to speak.

Well, I know this is not a Siberian forecast and with it's latitude of 57° 54' N not (at least I hope ) polar either but as there is no special thread for (other) bizarre forecasts I post it here. At the same time WO is forecasting +30c for Turku which is 3 degrees more northern than this place in Quebec...

Can't fucken decide. 57° 54' N is very much polar; the world most certainly does NOT revolve around Europe, I'll have you know Almost everywhere at 57° 54' N/S is at least subpolar, and also tundra in some cases—particularly the Southern seas.

Yes, almost everywhere. Except in Europe. Seriously- even Siberian places on latitude 57 N aren't that bad in May. It is exactly same as Norilsk right now is!

Siberia and related (13/5-19/5):
Asahikawa: 23/11 Astana: 18/6 Chita: 19/5 Harbin: 27/15
Imeni Poliny: 11/-0 Irkutsk: 17/5 Khabarovsk: 22/11 Komsomolsk: 19/9
Krasnoyarsk: 11/4 Kyzyl: 17/8 Mohe County: 16/-1 Nakhodka: 16/9
Norilsk: -1/-9 Novosibirsk: 12/4 Omsk: 13/3 Oymyakon: 9/2
Petropavlovsk: 8/4 Qiqihar: 25/13 Spassk-Dalny: 23/11 Ulaanbaatar: 21/8
Verkhoyansk: 5/-6 Vladivostok: 18/10 Yakutsk: 11/0 Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk: 16/7
On the lower latitudes, warmth is now escalating, with Vladivostok having average lows in the low 10's forecast. Oymyakon is also forecast lows above freezing, rather remarkable if that comes true, especially given Yakutsk is still not so warm.

From 5-15 to 5-22, average high/low forecast...winter begins. All southern stations will be experiencing quite a decrease in temperatures over the next week (except for Mawson Peak and McMurdo which were the only ones to have an increase and Vostok which comes out as exactly the same as before). Mawson Station and Neumayer will see the biggest drop in temperatures. Amundsen-Scott: -36/-40 ↓Bellingshausen: -1/-4 ↓Bernardo Higgins: -2/-4 ↓Bouvetøya: -3/-6 ↓Casey: -19/-21 ↓↓Campbell Island: 6/4 ↓Davis: -19/-24 ↓↓Dome Argus: Not Available Dōmu Fuji: -61/-65 ↓

"hopefully not polar"- I was told it with self-irony, you spastickunt. Or what does the emoticon like this mean ?
Pole is on latitude 90°, equator is on latitude 0°. My point of view is that all places higher than 45° are thus polar, all places lower than 45 ° are - equatorial

When will Inukjuak reach 0? 10? 0C is likely later this month. Last 0C was early December. 10C will be a while. Last 10C was late September and April's record high is only 7. Eureka usually gets above freezing in late May. But Resolute or a few other places can take until early June. Inukjuak reached 0.4 on April 23rd. The forecast low tonight is -21 so it'll be a while before it reaches +10. Daily data april 23rd

Siberia and related (21/5-27/5): Astana: 23/11 Chita: 16/6 Harbin: 24/13 Imeni Poliny: 19/8 Irkutsk: 12/4 Khabarovsk: 21/12 Komsomolsk: 21/10 Krasnoyarsk: 12/4 Kyzyl: 16/4 Mohe County: 18/3 Nakhodka: 15/8 Norilsk: 2/-3 Novosibirsk: 14/5 Omsk: 19/9 Oymyakon: 16/2 Petropavlovsk: 13/6 Qiqihar: 23/12 Spassk-Dalny: 22/9 Tura: 13/5 Ulaanbaatar: 15/2 Verkhoyansk: 18/6 Vladivostok: 15/9 Yakutsk: 21/8 Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk: 20/8 Norilsk finally with means above freezing, and a potential warm spell brewing in Sakha and farther south in the Russian Far East. On the other hand, the cold spell affecting Western Siberia all spring has now spread and affected Kyzyl, Irkutsk and Ulaanbaatar, all of whom will have really chilly days for the season this coming week. Sorry to report to 🖕🏿Mörön🖕🏿 that Asahikawa has been fired but I re-found this Tura thing at 64°N which has 24°C July's and a brutally short summer with tremendous October drop-downs. Tura is also a representative for higher Central Siberia, something that earlier has been absent. Much more interesting climate and Siberia/Russia/mainland Asia takes preference Still waiting for Kandel-san's Hokkaido lists though... I think you should get going with those.
