Well these past few days ended up being nice after all.
Wednesday was 53/22 and sunny, yesterday was a respectable 58 and dry.
Today blew by the forecast, hitting 55 with sun, far from the 40s and all day rain expected.
Crocuses are coming out, some bushes are starting to bloom, the lilacs are budding and even a few large trees are getting buds. Spring is definitely starting in Rochester!
And here in Burlington, rain got removed from tomorrowβs forecast so I should be able to hike after all.

The snow capped Adirondacks behind the lake must make a nice backdrop. In NYC, crocuses came out a week or two. In Manhattan this morning, saw daffodils, buds on a few shrubs and half leafed out willow trees.

Felt like a cold March, but it was about normal

The drive here through the Adirondacks was quite nice. Makes sense NYC would be a week or two ahead of us.

Lots of blooming here also, Bradford Pears have burst with white flowers, redbuds have sprouted beautiful purple/pink flowers, forsythias have bright yellow flowers coming up, lots of daffodils coming up etc. Warm today also near 70 F (I think, OBS for noon hasn't come out yet) with sun peaking through clouds, predicted high is 75 F (24 C) but I think potentially it'll get warmer than that.

Got to 59 (15 C) here with a mix of sun and clouds.
Beautiful day for being outside although, especially when it was forecast to rain up until yesterday.
Back home, Rochester blew past the forecast and hit 67 (19 C). Outside some morning drizzle, it was dry there too.
Rochester will end the month with 9 days over 50 and 2 over 60 which is about average.

was a fast drop yesterday; mild and rainy in the morning to cold and clear. Low 30s this morning in NYC, UHI didn't do much with the wind. It's solar noon right now and only 43Β°F on April 1st. After Wednesday, looks like normal mild spring weather but annoyingly gloomy. Cold day in the northeast dews are very dry and the sky looks it; cloudless in a wintry way today morning lows were colder in upstate NY than New England, wind prevented as much of a drop there or cold air not fully settled in. Colder overnight temperatures tomorrow up there

Northern Europe at 3 pm today: Rather mellow day, nothing too interesting going on. Below average for the month in Southern Sweden including NykΓΆping, but not necessarily for April 1. Some 70Β°N waters of the Gulf Stream still have milder air temperatures than the water just offshore of here (4Β°C vs 3Β°C).

It ended up getting down to 31F this morning. I think 37F had been forecast lol. This tied the coldest low on record for the month of April here. It could get close to freezing again tonight. It seems like impressively cold low temps are more likely when it's dry like it's been. Not much rain this past March. Had a good bit of frost on the ground and roofs. Glad I don't have tomatoes/peppers planted.

The chants of birds, the mild morning temps, the rumbles of thunder, the rain... April begins on a different note from March. :-)

We've had a really decent start to spring so far, all of the snow except small piles in shaded/grassy areas were melted by the start of April which is really nice. Last year that didn't happen until almost a month later. Temperatures have been really decent too, mostly around average and even above average at times. Sure beats the super crummy start to spring that I experienced in 2017 and 2018

Spring officially arrived in UmeΓ₯ on the 27th. Exactly the day when I was outside and was like "alright it's spring now".

Seems that the FMI outspringed SMHI and decided on the 15th.

UmeΓ₯: Kronoby: UmeΓ₯ had a streak of 4, 5 and 7 spring days, Kronoby 4, 4 and 7. I think it'd be fair to put the spring arrival on the 20th for UmeΓ₯ and 21st for Kronoby. Those 1'C mean days around the 15th were snow storm days and far from springlike. Maybe less snow in Kronoby, but not exactly nice and sunny.
