If I were to use that definition (7 consecutive days with mean above 0C):
We had mean above 0C from Dec 24th to Jan 12th, so spring started on Christmas Eve.
And again, mean at least 7 days in a row above 0C: Feb 12th to Mar 3th, and again from Mar 17th to Mar 24th, and again from Mar 26th to present day. Four springs

Damn these cooked up definitions of spring, summer or whatever are rediculous.

Damn these cooked up definitions of spring, summer or whatever are rediculous.
It has some merit if you have some kind of consistence, and the climate is somewhat universal.
What made the FMI "declaring" spring on the 14th and 15th was probably because of the mild February and as we are seeing willow catkins and budding bushes, it's probably reasonable to say that it's spring.

surprised how cold the surface temperatures are down there; colder there than further north. Usually that's from an upper-level low, this looks more of a coastal storm. Below average here, but nothing special. Colder in NC than in northern NH & VT below freezing 850 hPA temperatures extend down to there, sun is warming the surface up here was sunny in the morning

Ended up getting down to 31F again this morning! Pretty big diurnal range today; got up to 70F this afternoon. Low humidity with dewpoint in the low 30's.
Warmth and moisture are coming soon. Looking like we will have multiple 80F+ days the end of the week and early next week. Chance of severe storms Thursday and possibly another chance this weekend.

We've started off April with three straight freezes (lows of 27 F (-3 C), 28 F (-2 C) and 30 F (-1 C) respectively) and two afternoons in the upper 40s (49 F and 48 F respectively). Today will have a big diurnal range though, high of 66 F (19 C) predicted with sunny skies, we have a Red Flag Warning in effect from noon until 8 pm due to breezy conditions and low dew points.

Saw it earlier this morning. FV3 has picked up on it too and shows up to 20" near St. Louis. Absolutely incredible storm if it happens.

Forecast high for tomorrow has been lowered from 58 F to 51 F per the NWS. Gonna be a chilly one for sure. Sticks out because most other days have highs in the 70s predicted.

Had proper t-storms today for the first time in a while. There had been some severe risk, but no warnings close by. The warmer air failed to make it here so the biggest threat was hail. Never got past 66F.
Left work this evening during a fairly intense storm. Right when I stepped out of the office, CTG lightning struck in pretty close range and made me jump out of my skin.
I measured 1.66" in my gauge. Last time I measured more than an inch in a day was Jan 23.
Forecast to get up to 81F tomorrow.

Weird discrepancy for whether downstate NY will be sunny or cloudy on Sunday since I want to go for a bike ride. WeatherUnderground has clouds, NWS sun. Not even one mostly cloudy and another partly cloudy but nowhere close: mostly sunny & cloudy. NWS: Wunderground: wonder what's going on. NWS seems rather confident Sunday will have a break from the clouds in between storms Three main low pressure systems are within the long term forecast period: a departing system Saturday going well offshore into the Atlantic, a system for Sunday through early next week, and a possible system for late Thursday.
All systems are coinciding with weather patterns that will be relatively warmer so all precipitation is expected to be rain. Saturday`s low is going well offshore into the Atlantic and is very weak. Sunday night into early Tuesday`s system features a low that will be moving through the Great Lakes. The system towards late next week will also be developing well west of the region.
For this weekend, rain showers could linger in the region with a weak pressure gradient in place initially Saturday morning. The high pressure area makes it more into the local region for late Saturday and Saturday night which will increase subsidence and allow for drier conditions with decreasing clouds. The dry conditions last through Sunday with high pressure moving across but will be brief as for Sunday night, rain returns to the forecast ahead of the frontal system.
wonder what Wunderground is seeing? Different mix of models?

Cool and rainy here, 45 F with rain still at almost noon. Going to be quite mild this weekend with highs in the 70s predicted from Saturday until Tuesday, thunderstorms in the forecast for Monday and Tuesday!

We're supposed to be getting showers throughout the day tomorrow, this will be our first major rainfall since October if it happens. I always enjoy the return of the rain and moisture after a long winter, between that and the increasingly milder nights our grass will probably start greening up in a couple weeks.

Uh, okay so this is pretty : Gothenburg is forecast to get its fifth day in a row with a 10'C mean tomorrow. That means summer is officially going to arrive on April 3rd this year. I don't know what the national, or Gothenburgian record is, but I'm fairly certain it'll get beat if Gothenburg manages to reach its forecast 15/6 (14/6 with YR and 14/7 with SMHI)....
