Higher deviations in both Norway and Finland at my latitude Shouldn't there be some kind of east-to-west transition?

flamingGalah , I would say that a -0.3C deviation of a mean temp is average. Everything from -0.5C to +0.5C is to me average, and only -0.6C deviations below average. True, though technically any deviation is still below or above average. Plus in Malta the temperatures are usually very stable so any variance is noticeable & it certainly felt cooler than normal.

AEROPUERTO DE PORTLAND (OREGON) SUMMARY OF WEATHER APRIL 2019This April was overall above average in terms of temps. The mean temperature is about 1ยบC above the 1981-2010 averages. There was one notable cold front, lowest high of the month was 52ยบF (which was also the warmest low). The first half of the month was dominated by cloud cover and rain, while the second half of the month was mostly dry and sunny. No heat waves of note. There were a couple of localized downpours in my area early in the month, and the heaviest rain day at PDX was 0.78".

Seattle April 2019 SummaryOverall the month was slightly warmer and wetter than normal. It was also very very stable with a low diurnal range. Probably cloudier than average as well. The warmest temperature was 70ยฐF on April 1 and 20ยฐC (68ยฐF) hasn't even been reached except on April 1 and 2. Pretty disappointing for an above-average month. Only 5 Aprils from 1981-2010 haven't exceeded 70ยฐF. A record for the most consecutive rainy days in April was set. 12 consecutive rainy days occurred from April 3 - 14. Interestingly the NWS Seattle station recorded much less rain than SeaTac at, only getting 2.21" (56 mm) compared to SeaTac's 3.53" (90 mm). Average High: 59.3ยฐF/15.2ยฐC (+0.8ยฐF/0.5ยฐC) Average Low: 45.6ยฐF/7.6ยฐC (+3.4ยฐF/1.9ยฐC) Highest Temperature: 70ยฐF/21ยฐC (1st) Lowest Temperature: 37ยฐF/3ยฐC (28th) Warmest Low: 53F/12ยฐC (18th) Coldest High: 51F/11ยฐC (13th, 14th) Precipitation: 3.53"/90 mm (+0.82"/21 mm) Precipitation Days: 17 (+2.7)

Striking to see some substantial snow totals against 4-5C/17-18C averages AJ1013 ! Those averages are warmer than my July avg but snow here is essentially impossible, and I've seen -5C out in the bush here.

Cold fucken desert indeed! April was officially the driest on record in Saskatoon with 0.4mm of precipitation, though that number is slightly misleading as we did get a couple decent rain events during the month but they apparently missed the airport so we didn't register any precipitation for those days. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatchewan/saskatoon-driest-april-on-record-1.5119065Stats and weatherbox to follow hopefully in the next day or two...

That's just the way the climate works here, our coldest upper level temps often coincide with precip so we can get snow with mild averages. The day in Feb that saw 1.9" (Feb 22nd) was 0C with heavy snow midday.

April was a very nice month overall, with some well above average temperatures in the second half. The only real downside for me was the dryness, but even then we got a couple of good rain events that apparently missed the airport weather station, giving us our incredibly low rainfall total (though I think it would've been fairly low even with them), and officially giving us the driest April on record. Average high: 12.8C (normal: 11.2C) Average low: -3.2C (normal: -1.9C) Mean temperature: 4.8C (normal: 4.7C) Precipitation: 0.4mm (normal: 22.7mm) Precipitation days: 2 (normal: 8.3) Highest high: 22.0C (April 22nd) Highest low: 8.7C (April 19th) Lowest high: 2.7C (April 2nd) Lowest low: -9.6C (April 12th) Sunshine hours: 286.7 (normal: 222.0) Sunshine percentage: 68.6% (normal: 53.3%)

Saskatoon looks like I assume it would being on the high plans. A land of extremes Indeed. Though it should be noted that February was the 4th coldest on record, and the 2nd coldest month within my lifetime, so it's normally a little bit less extreme than that

Bangkok, Bang Na Agromet site -------------------------------------
Mean high: 36.2 C Mean low: 27.6 C
Max high: 39.5 C Max low: 29.9 C
Min high: 34.1 C Min low: 22.2 C
Rain: 48 mm Raindays > 0.1 mm: 5 Highest 24 hr rainfall: 29 mm
A hot month - only one day failed to exceed 35 C. Sunny and mostly dry (47 mm of the 48 mm total rainfall fell over two days) but a disappointing lack of storms. The heat was accompanied by strong sun (90 degree solar altitude or close) and high humidity (dew points of over 29 C were recorded at one site).

One single place (at least among the featured list) managed to break the monthly record and that's the highly maritime Hoburg station on Gotland island. Record or close to record dry throughout the country, and most stations broke their sunshine records. Note the margine between Storlien and Karlstad on the list! Storlien's previous record was 238h and they got 302h! Remarkable. We seem to have tied our driest April, and we beat our sunshine record with a day and a half of sunshine.
