GFS progging 85-knot squalls (160 km/h) at 850mb (1,400 m) for Tuesday morning right over the Illawarra coastline! It is also showing 70-knot squalls (130 km/h) at 925mb (700 m), and 110 km/h gusts at sea level. It displayed similar conditions on the last run and it isn't too far away, either. Could be some serious areas of destruction if this comes off; the pocket of abnormally warm water off the Southern NSW coastline is what I believe is causing the low pressure system to bomb like a cyclone. If these winds come off, it would be equal to a high-end Category 2 cyclone:  Tremendously heavy snowfall would also be on the cards for coastal regions such as Nimmitabel, NSW. |

Jandakot Airport Rainfall:
January 1st-June 6th: 80.6mm
June 7th-June 12th: 97.0mm (with an extra 0.6mm today which will be added)
Perth Metro Rainfall:
January 1st-June 6th: 75.6mm
June 7th-June 12th: 106.8mm (with an extra 0.4mm today which will be added)
Contrary to normality (and averages) Perth got more rain from this series of cold fronts than Jandakot. Really good to get some decent falls as Year to end of May was averaging less rain in Perth than an average May (~90mm) alone!

This is my first post here. I am a former Bureau of Meteorology Technical Officer Grade 3 with 30 years experience.
I have been posting high quality manual weather observations for about 13 years on another Forum that is soon to be wound up, and have been invited to continue these observations and comments here.
My location is Wynnum North - 13 Km east of Brisbane, bordering Moreton Bay. I normally post daily summary around the 0800 mark. I also post a monthly summary, an annual summary to date, a graph of daily temperature anomalies, and from now on a running graph of monthly temperature anomalies for the current year, plus a brief seasonal summary. If a sudden weather change occurs I usually post data of this as well in real time. Observations are made using a mixture of analogue and automated equipment, plus visual observations in line with BoM code requirements.
First observation Sunday morning.

Quite a few cold days already back home in Christchurch. Some milder ones mixed in too. Five frosts two weeks into winter is impressive (including three of -3 C or lower). The 1st and 2nd look really nasty   |

Angler's Cold-Chase, Day I
Registered a minimum reading of –9.3° C on the Kestrel 5500 earlier this morning at Providence Portal, a notable frost-hollow in the Eucumbene region (1,174 m AMSL); Perisher Valley registered a mere –6.6° C, by comparison.
Tomorrow is forecast even colder, so likely well below –10° C next morning.

Nice and chilly today—only managed a 2.7° C maximum (2.5° C at Cabramurra), with Cooma up to 6.9° C; well below the forecast.
It appears my minimum at home was –6.2° C, which was not quite the –9.3° C at Providence Portal.

Angler's Cold-Chase ~ 20th June, 2019
At my property, a minimum reading of –10.7° C was recorded; heading north-westwards to Providence Portal, the reading was a frigid –14.1° C, by comparison to Perisher Valley's –12.0° C and Cooma AP's –9.1° C; severe frost all around the region, due to very moist air (>95% RH). However, there was a persistent on-and-off breeze during the midnight and foredawn (particularly about Perisher and the upper ranges), thereby halting the temperature from plummeting to its coldest. Minimal wind around here.
Without doubt—it was well and truly cold—but it was also a fizzer due to the interrupting breeze(s).
