Their most underrated song IMO. Somehow just got buried on the soundtrack CD of a cartoon movie.

I had the Yellow Submarine CD since I was 12 or 13, so I knew the song before I ever saw the movie. I think I saw it sometime after that; maybe we rented the DVD. I don't remember liking it the first time - too weird. But it grew on me. The Yellow Submarine movie is better than the Magical Mystery Tour movie, at least. I've also seen "Help!" which I enjoyed.

The Magical Mystery Tour film was considered to be their first critical failure, but the soundtrack was good. I haven't seen the Yellow Submarine movie, is it true that Hey Bulldog wasn't even used in the film? Yellow Submarine, the song itself is known by just about everyone, we used to sing it in school.

I looked it up - apparently, only in Europe before the film's 1999 restoration. I guess I've only seen the restoration.

rozenn , how about this one? A big outlier in terms of style from most of their 60's stuff. Recorded during their brief psychedelic phase.

In fact I associate it with an annoying French TV ad from the 2000s! ELO's Mr Blue Sky too, but I somehow managed to overcome that association, probably because I do like that song.

A rather grand composition about his pet dog, she must have been a very good girl.

An unironically brilliant jazzy, Motown-style song. The only problem with this track is that it isn't longer, it fades away when it's just entered its stride. It actually remerged ten years later in 1976, becoming a big hit during the disco/soul era.

The meaning of this song was initially lost on me until I looked it up, quite clever:
Aftermath's most overt 'drug song'" … at a time when the adult media were beginning to rant about teenage drug abuse". Schaffner goes on to say "the Stones retaliated by zeroing in on all those harried middle-aged housewives incapable of getting through the day, or getting to sleep at night, without the help of their legally prescribed 'little yellow pills.'"

Part of their unannounced rooftop concert in January 1969, that brought central London to a standstill. Their last ever live performance.
