Awesome! Also 41.3°C in Dunkirk and Abbeville, on the North Sea and Channel shores in France.

The 38.7C at Remich seems to have been the peak, so no 40C for Luxembourg, but still a new national heat record. Bruxelles Saint-Pierre appears to have hit 40.9C.
Overview of today's highs. The 42.9C in NL seems to be an unofficial or faulty station/reading.
Meanwhile the heat has once again avoided Dublin. Their highest temp this crummer has been 24.9C...

Our first ever 70F low last night! Official low at Linton was 21.1C! It didn't drop below 23C in York, and to celebrate I slept on our outside sofa as the house was too hot!

Was Paris' record taken at the same site. Seems to me that Paris isn't like the Paris of 1947. Like Sydney, it would have its hotter suburban areas with different geographical considerations and urban sprawl Best not to derail the thread, matey, but Paris Montsouris is largely a non-UHI station; unlike Sydney, Paris' heat records are 100% real and verified. Sydney Observatory Hill is an entirely different story to Paris Montsouris. Therefore: this is the hottest day in North-Western European history, which makes it all the more impressive.

42.6 °C at Lingen now approved by the DWD. Though I have to admit the station is a bit dodgy and the DWD even has plans to replace the station. Experts have critizied that the surrounding trees and hedges inhibit ventilation. So maybe it's better to recognise the 41.2 °C at Duisburg and Tönisvorst as our new record... however, the DWD has approved that 42.6 °C measurement and it's probably a fair representation what humans have experienced yesterday.

Annoyingly the rain/thunderstorms stopped the UK's highest ever minimum temperature being recorded as many places had temperatures in the mid 20's for much of the night.

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Of course never gonna happen. We'll be lucky to reach 30'C. They're forecasting strong winds from the south, which because of Umeå's geography means the wind will come from the sea. At least a promising sign that it will be warm at least.

Ylitornio Meltosjärvi at the Arctic circle has recorded their new July record with at least 32.5C. Records go back to 1966.
Their heat record is 32.8C and might well be broken
Edit: there it is. 32.9C the newest reading.
