^ Damn, some intense rainfall over there! Autumn seems to have a lot of extremely wet periods in that region. Dry as a bone here today, with a big diurnal range. Low this morning was 35 F (1.7 C) and the high reached 68 F (20 C), sunny skies all day. A cool night tonight with a low of 39 F (3.9 C) predicted. w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KIAD.htmlDown to 60 F (15.6 C) with a 40 F (4.4 C) dew point as of 7 pm here.

Boston still hasn't gone below 40°F. perhaps Northern Virginia's cool nights and nyc's lack of cool nights could be partly an east-west thing if Boston has been milder than NoVa at night alex992

Our foliage looks like your Boston suburbs pic, very nice.

Impressively cold 850s over the interior West. ECMWF is actually starting to agree with the GEM.

Mild and cloudy is the name of the game for the next 6 days.

Unseasonably hot - the 24 hr mean temp has been over 30 C for more than two weeks now. Not what you'd expect of late October when temps usually start to get cooler.

The cold is settling in! We've got some snow on the ground, and the next four days have subfreezing highs. Tuesday looks to be particularly cold with a forecast high of -6C and forecast low of -14C. Afterwards it warms up a bit with slightly above freezing highs for the first few days of November, but of course it's November so this won't last very long.
Interestingly enough, I find the phase in between fall and winter to be worse than the actual winter - when it's just above freezing, colorless, and chilly, and winter looms overhead but has not yet arrived. I find that quite depressing sometimes (especially this year) but now that we've had some proper cold and snow come down this weekend I find that I'm okay with the idea of winter now and don't mind the cold. Went on a walk this morning with a -16C windchill, and although it was too windy for my liking I got used to it very quickly and am no longer dreading the coming winter temperatures like I was when we were still above freezing the last couple weeks.

Rainy, warm and muggy today, looks like the dew point peaked at 67 F (19.4 C), we also recorded 1.29" (33 mm) of rain today. w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KIAD.htmlNow that winds have switched from S and SE to W and NW, dew points have dropped noticeably, but it's still very warm at 79 F (26.1 C). Tonight will cool off quitea bit though to a low of 46 F (7.8 C).

NWS was 7F too warm on todays forecast, lol. High ended up being 67F I guess due to more cloudiness than expected.
Yesterday NWS forecasted 6F above actual (actual high was 60F).
