Unseasonably hot - the 24 hr mean temp has been over 30 C for more than two weeks now. Not what you'd expect of late October when temps usually start to get cooler. Sounds and looks awful. They need to lower both the lows and the highs by 10C at least

First snowflakes this morning. Some accumulation on roofs and on fallen leaves, but pretty much everything was gone by noon.

-27.2ยฐC / -17ยฐF on the Finnmark plateau, coldest recording in Norway in Oct the last 13 years. So even in Finnmark that is unusual. Actually two stations almost the same low.

Damn, 47 F at the latitude of Miami on Halloween, that's insane!
Today was a mild day, high hit 70 F (21.1 C) under sunny skies, 59 F (15 C) now as of 8 pm.
This might be the last mild weather in a while, as November is looking consistently chilly.

Drove across the state yesterday. Northern part was past peak, trees were almost all bare. Southern is at peak. Still some green, but most trees have changed and there is a mix of yellow, orange, red, and green now. Central is peak or past peak, trees are mostly yellow, orange, or brown there. I'll post pics sometime if I feel like it

What the fuck is with the weather the past 1.5 months? Here's a map of the current dew points. This looks more like an Arctic blast in mid-winter as the drier air moves south and west.

Mild morning again today, 54 F (12.2 C) and cloudy as of 5 am. Today's high will be seasonable with a predicted high of 64 F (17.8 C) with cloudy skies, so should feel nice. Just three more days of mild weather to get through, now TWC has below freezing nights for both Friday and Sunday, and five freezing nights in the 15-day forecast now. November looking quite decent to start.

I'll post pics sometime if I feel like it I noticed yesterday here that the trees that were peaking last week are now past peak, and the trees that were still green/just starting to turn last week are now getting to peak (I'd say we're just a hair past peak right now). All the trees that are still green right now should turn quickly with the upcoming chilly weather we have coming up. In about a week or so I don't think we'll have any green trees left over.

Interestingly enough, I find the phase in between fall and winter to be worse than the actual winter - when it's just above freezing, colorless, and chilly, and winter looms overhead but has not yet arrived. I find that quite depressing sometimes (especially this year) but now that we've had some proper cold and snow come down this weekend I find that I'm okay with the idea of winter now and don't mind the cold. Went on a walk this morning with a -16C windchill, and although it was too windy for my liking I got used to it very quickly and am no longer dreading the coming winter temperatures like I was when we were still above freezing the last couple weeks. I don't like this type of weather either. It's usually cloudy, cold, and mostly brown. I wish it would go from fall colors to snow in the fall, and then in spring from snow to mild weather within a week or two. This is also why I don't like thaws in winter. When the snow melts, it feels like an extension of this late fall/early spring season, with brown everywhere and temperatures around freezing. I would take cold and snow cover over a thaw every time in winter.

Unexpected severe t-storm moved across SE TX and SW LA this afternoon & evening in areas that weren't even under marginal risk. Models weren't picking up on it.
NWS LCH is now mentioning severe storm chance in my forecast for this evening; no warning with the storm currently.
Marginal severe risk tomorrow for storms coming with cold front. Forecast high of 80F tomorrow (last time it's been in the 80's was Oct 20).
