Was about to go for a sunset ride to watch the seaside sunset over the open sea, when I saw this unforecasted abomination and absolute stain on this planet speeding towards me on the radar #FuckThisShit #Cancelled

As fall rapidly approaches, and the ever-imposing spectre of winter lies just around the corner, this is the time of the year when I start daydreaming about moving somewhere warmer. I'm a four-seasons guy all the way but I want those seasons to be balanced, and the seasons here are way too skewed towards winter weather for my liking.
This year in particular our late spring and summer has been milder than average, following an epically cold end to the winter, and with the feeling of fall already in the air it just feels like our season of non-freezing weather has been so short and mild and has barely gotten off the ground. Last year we'd had a much hotter late spring and summer, but the early spring and fall were also spectacularly cold, so there too we had a very short season of warm weather.
I'm definitely starting to dream of a balanced climate and a gentle winter that doesn't dominate half the year and doesn't leave us living in its shadow in the warmer months...

Same for me except I'm daydreaming of a colder climate. It's been reasonably sunny and warm since mid-April and there's no end in sight. Meanwhile places like Dawson and Fairbanks are getting their first near-freezing lows. The year is only so long, can't waste too much of it on boring room temperature weather.

Want to switch? lol I like your temperature profile compared to mine but Saskatoon is too dry for me Funny enough, I feel similarly about yours - good temperatures but a bit too wet for my liking. Meanwhile places like Dawson and Fairbanks are getting their first near-freezing lows. So have we, we got down to 2.3C on the morning of August 7th and haven't had a low of 10C or warmer since August 5th. Tonight's forecast low is 2C with risk of frost.

(Early December to beginning to march) Yeah it lasts all winter, usually from around late October/early November to late March/early April. Though of course this varies from winter to winter - for a particularly mild winter it might only be from mid-November to mid-March while on a colder one it could be late October to early April. The shortest permanent snow cover I've seen was in the super mild 2011/2012 winter season when the snowpack was around only from mid-January to early March. Longest I've seen was the 2012/2013 winter season when it lasted from late October to almost the very end of April (2017/2018 was very close to this as well).

Wasn't it mostly bare mid-winter just this year? We definitely had much less snow than average up until February and indeed some streets in the middle of the city were mostly bare in mid-winter (as seen in this post), but there was still enough to maintain a snowpack. Whereas in the 2011/2012 winter we didn't get much snow and it would all melt away after a few days since it kept going above freezing, the ground was fully bare everywhere until mid-January that winter.

Another complete shitshow of a December, basically just an extra November. Awful. Did you even get any snow across the pond? Here we've been lucky to get maybe 3 cm in total. It's been disgusting. Probably new rain record on the way as well, what a joke Norrköping has had 42 mm for 11 days above 1 mm until yesterday and this shows no sign of stopping, even in this rain shadow. In fact, Nyköping has had an even rawer deal so far since we got almost 20 mm in one day alone.

It's hilarious how it's only getting warmer, now there's an 8°C high for Wednesday.

I hate winter here.
I love warm weather and hate being cold, but I’m sick of winter boring temperatures, particularly nowadays when we struggle to have high temps anything below 6C and 90% of days seem to be between 6-13C.
At least can we have a decent cold snap with snow this winter? We’ve had no lying snow and it’s not how I remember this area when I grew up in the 90s with at least a couple of days with lying snow each winter. This just sucks dick, roll on March and hopefully some warm weather in the next few weeks

Although, it would be cool to see at least one snow day instead of cold rain.

In central London, St James's Park's coldest temp of the winter so far has been -0.4c, there are probably many places in London that haven't even seen a frost.
