One is associated with sun and fun, the other is associated with grey and depression. Have your pick I'm trying to test how far cold lovers will go... The sun totals for Orlando isn't there for some reason but it's more than 2.5x that of Glasgow.

Easiest climate battle so far. I choose Orlando; no contest. Also, you forgot to add a poll.

Orlando. Glasgow has better temps but itβs way too wet and all that cold rain would be miserable.

G.L.A.S.G.O.W.
Proper, much snowier winters; significantly more comfortable in summer (i.e. not muggy), and more variable.

Orlando by far. "How far cold lovers will go" will be more extreme if you use a climate with very cold and snowy winters instead of Glasgow, but I'm pretty sure this won't be a huge landslide in favor of Orlando either. Thats been done before tho and the extreme cold winters usually lose

Disney World vs Heroin, I'll choose Disney World.

Orlando has pleasant winters through early/mid spring and glasgow has no pleasant seasons, so orlando seems better.

Orlando of course. There is a reason people in Glasgow are all druggies or alcoholics & the average lifespan is 34.

^^^ Is it really much different from somewhere like London though ?- Hampstead Heath has 7C/14.3 for annual temps, compared to Glasgow at 6.2C/12.9C, with around 250 hours of sunshine between them. On the weather forecasts in the summer I regularly see heatwaves arrive in London, but then basically die on their arse long before they've reached Glasgow.

Hampstead is elevated and the coolest station in London, but outside of winter it feels nothing like Glasgow. London breaks Glasgow's record high multiple times per summer, and the peak of Glasgow's summer is more like a very wet and cloudy late spring in London. London gets less than half the precipitation of Glasgow, and London's cloudiest year on record was about 100 hrs sunnier than a typical Glasgow year. Glasgow is one of the worst climates in the UK.

Climates are really about the whole year though - differences aren't that much for the most part Climate is what you experience from day to day, an annual average can be a poor way of telling the full story. Let's take your temperature example. London is more similar in means to Boston, Massachusetts, than it is to Glasgow, would you argue that temperatures in London follow a similar pattern to those in Boston? I'd hope not.

Glasgow is a significantly downgraded version of London. Very similar in terms of overall patterns/synoptics and where weather systems come from but London has MUCH better summers than Glasgow, rest of the year wouldn't feel too different though.

Certainly a difference to here, where the warmest summers around Motueka, are at Hampstead's elevation. I can appreciate that it's somewhat different (particularly with rain days) but with spring/autumn maximums only being about 1.3C different between Hampstead and Glasgow, I think it's a relatively minor difference Seems like you're trying to carry on the London vs Motueka thing here? This isn't about either, it's Glasgow vs Orlando.

Every Scottish person I know who has moved to London thinks that they feel completely different, and that London is pretty much southern France compared to Glasgow I understand what you mean, as UK folk often say that here -apparently "anecdotes mean nothing" though, according to some on here. Referring to me ofc, I have plenty of anecdotes, I just choose not to use them. I prefer data over perceptions. What do you make of B87's anecdote, it surely settles this?
