SMHI's summary: Only two of the featured stations in what constitutes as "Southern Sweden" didn't break their temperature record. In the geographical center of Sweden the deviations from the 61-90 average were the largest but few records were broken compared to in the south. Probably due to cold winter climates tend to have larger temperature swings in general. Precipitation was very irregular with lots of places being drier than average and lots of stations being wetter than average. The middle latitudes of Sweden were sunnier than average with a bit less sun in the very south and north.

Lots of warm winters. Milwaukee was the same. 7.9F/4.4C above average, rain and snow near average. The warmth was consistent mild weather, not a few very warm days, so there was still a snow cover for 17 days. The mean temperature of -1C means Milwaukee is one month closer to recording a Csa year which is possible but rare. The month started off warmwith most days in the 40s. The 9th-10th was very warm, with one day above 50F/10C before a storm came through, bringing unusually heavy rainfall for a short period. After some snow mid-month, the rest of the month had snow cover, and consistently mild temps near freezing. The 22nd-31st was cloudy and close to freezing the entire time with some light snow. The range for the last 9 days was just 9F/5C, from 37F/3C to 28F/-2C. Very bad, but not the worst ever because there was some snow. No cold days. Only two nights below 10F/-12C, and the coldest of 5F/-15C is warm compared to the mean minimum of -9F/-23C. No sun hours recorded, but sky cover averaged 80% which is above average and it felt cloudy. The coldest day so far this winter is still November 12th, even though the averages are much colder this time of year. And the heaviest snowfall was on October 31st. Unless winter arrives in February, that two-week period might be the best winter weather I see this winter. Nothing coming up before mid-month it seems.

Official countrywide stats:
Average temperature: 3,1°C (+6,6°C) Record high: 8,7°C Record low: -7,7°C (lol) Precipitation: 44 mm (-13%) Sunshine: 26,4 h (-13%)
Even warmer than December was, roughly early April temperatures. No mention of breaking any records but I sure don't remember a January quite as sad as this one. Turns out it was indeed the warmest January on record. February might follow suit as there's no cold in sight.

This month I'm very late... I had troubles at work and with the internet connection at home. Anyway, here there are the quick summaries for January 2020 back to my home village in Italy: And this is Grenoble instead: There were quite long inversion periods in both places and so, as often happens in winter, the temps were higher in the stations at higher altitude than at the very bottom of the valleys. Weather-wise a quite boring month in both places, in summary.
