"Milder" air starting to move in with some very dry snow but in the transition to milder air, winds will be strong causing really low wind chills, temperatures will rise throughout the day and the snow will start to get quite a bit heavier. Low this morning was -61 F (-52 C) at midnight and has been rising since.
Wind Chill advisory in effect until Wednesday at 5 PM.

Snow depth 73cm. ^ There's going to be a similar cold snap in Winter Haven later on this month...maybe the highs will be a little high but lows will be in the -80 F to -85 F range. Nice! I saw your November summary on the other thread. Your climate is epic! For me this week is only a medium-intensity cold snap. ^ You're nuts!  The record low for Winter Haven -96 F (-71 C) although outer suburbs and northern, higher elevated areas have dropped to as low as -114 F (-81 C) in the past before. There seems to be an especially intense cold snap around the period of January 10 - 20 in the books, with lows in the -90 F range and highs in the -75 F to -80 F range for Winter Haven. If that indeed occurs, it will be the first time Winter Haven hits -90 F since 1982! Some areas will undoubtedly drop as low as -100 F. 12/6: 0/-30; Very snowy and windy; 13.1" of snow recorded 12:45 PM Temp: -7 F (-22 C) Conditions: Heavy Snow/Wind Wind: NNE at 34 mph G 49 mph Dew Point: -8 F (-22 C) Wind Chill: -37 F (-38 C) Snow Depth: 155.4" (394 cm) Windy, cold and snowy today, though the snow is due to taper off in a few hours. Buenos Perthes is on 1000m elevation, hence why it's usually a few degrees colder than Jacarandopolis. Also Jacarandopolis gets its readings from much closer to downtown so it gets a massive UHI, altho not as much in winter as in the summer obviously. While Jacarandopolis almost never drops below 0C, Buenos Perthes has a record low of -6C, so it does get snowflakes once or twice a year

What are the climatic averages for Buenos Perthes and Jacarandopolis? Not sure if you've posted it yet.

Here is the temperature chart for Jacarandopolis  I'm thinking Buenos Perthes would be 14/3 in January, and 30/15 in July, since it's elevated and also doesn't receive as much UHI as the Downtown station |
