Temp: 28 F (-2 C)
Conditions: Heavy Snow/Wind
Wind: NW at 34 mph G 47 mph
Dew Point: 26 F (-3 C)
Wind Chill: 11 F (-12 C)
Has been snowing since about 9 PM last night, 5.8" has officially fallen over Winter Haven. Looks like about 6-7 more hours of heavy snow which would be 6-8" additional inches of snow. Looks like this system is dumping more snow than what was predicted.
A wind advisory is now up until 10 PM:
**WIND ADVISORY**
A deep area of low pressure will be moving through the area today, causing tight pressure gradients which will lead to strong winds, with occasional gusts in some spots as high as 60 mph (97 km/hr). This will cause a lot of blowing and drifting snow during the storm and very bad visibility. Please use a lot of precaution if out.

Nice! What's the October record low? Was there a cold daytime high the previous day? The October record low is -3.4°C back in 1886, but due to warming effects from a developing UHI freezing lows haven't been recorded for a long time in this month. The high was a mostly cloudy 14C (8C below average) but the cloud completely cleared by night time, as well as the wind dying down which led to the rare event.

That sounds similar to June in my dream climate, last time it dropped below freezing was in 1992, but it used to be a lot more common. In the 1951-1980 averages June averaged one freeze, now in the 1981-2010 average June averages 0.07 freezes. 2:00 PM Temp: 32 F (0 C) Conditions: Snow Flurries Wind: ESE at 15 mph Dew Point: 28 F (-2 C) Wind Chill: 22 F (-6 C) Snow Depth: 15.4"
