Took this yesterday afternoon. Pretty much how the sky has been since early March.

Still not really much of a difference compared to a week or two ago. The difference between now and a week ago could easily have happened in one single day during a May heatwave. It seems some very select few wild birches have started getting leaves now. And there's still some occasional snowy spots in sheltered locations. Green birches. This is 3km away from the city center btw. Is this November, January, April or May? ๐ค One of the birches in this birch grove where I live has started growing leaves now. It's so weird that some birches in the center have had leaves for over two weeks, whereas like 99% of all the wild birches are still completely bare.

Large wildfire, about 200km NE of Saskatoon. There's a bunch of rain that looks like it might make its way up there, so hopefully that happens and helps to improve the situation...

On a related note, I saw Fort McMurray had some nasty floods this spring. I would not be surprised if they had more fires this summer.

you had no tree line streets at all in your local neighborhood? Side streets don't have trees. There's a large 4-lane road with trees, but they've been planted recently as the old ones have been chopped down to make way for a bike lane, so it doesn't feel like a tree-lined road yet. That's something America does much better than Yurop overall, I guess because of the wide streets and warmer summers overall. A few trees add a lot to a neighborhood indeed.

Could you not travel outside your neighborhood at all? People in NYC were still going for long runs or bike rides. And you have a car, right? European streets are narrower than American so harder to squeeze trees but can be done. My old street Not narrow or dense for European standards but does have trees adjacent to the street goo.gl/maps/582wXv8v4W9Q99JB6Narrower. not exactly tree-lined but has trees goo.gl/maps/vX6VkgQPkNsDPy5j6

Everything was allowed within this 1 km radius, but I don't see much of a point to run or ride a bike only to stay within 1 km. I don't care much for running and don't have much of a psychological need for exercize so I didn't go out unless for errands. Yeah I thing the tree thing is mostly cultural (and maybe also climatic). I mean, if you can squeeze in trees on such streets, you can do it almost anywhere: goo.gl/maps/foVpEm31itS2mcjY8

First two from northern North Vancouver taken two weeks ago during the first heat of the year. It's Mount Baker, which is pretty far away: Less zoomed in. Nice greenery. And last Friday I took a drive to Squamish to buy alcohol. Obligatory parking lot view: Last few are from just outside city centre, looking southwest: Isolated showers Nice shades of green, looking west
