I have to look for places first. What is the warmest climate above 5000ft / 1500m? Has to be somewhere in the deep tropics.

I would say Big Bear Lake, California (elevation 2058 m.)  Comfortably warm summers, four legit seasons which is quite rare for SoCal, and cold but not extreme winters with a good amount of snow. There is rain at winter, but that makes sense as the average high in January, the coldest month, is 47. The only bad thing is that mosquitoes breed near the lake. |

Above 5000' many places with cold snowy winters have cold nights in summer. Ouray has better summer temps than nearby Telluride and avoids the really dry winters that some of the interior west can see. By Colorado standards it's a wet place. I don't like the winter highs above freezing, but snow depth numbers from WRCC show average depth around 15" in February (38cm) and more than enough snowfall for me.
Like many other places in Colorado, the area is beautiful:
Turkey has some good four season climates above 5000' too. Ağrı is my favorite at 1640m/5380'. I was close to picking this over anywhere in the US, but summer afternoons are a bit hot and winter is very cloudy. The low humidity and cool nights help for summer but I wonder if it gets thunderstorms often. Ouray should be sunny in winter like the rest of Colorado and I think it gets regular thunderstorms.
Second place for Turkey is Kars. It has better winter sunshine, but less snowfall and summer means are too low. Other similar climates are Erzurum and Göle.  Turkey has a lot of climate variety so it may have a climate you like too.

I wanted to show a few other climates. Lead, South Dakota is above 5000', and well known for high variability. Average temperatures could fit in the northeast US or maybe Eastern Europe except it does not see much heat due to the elevation. It is wetter than most of the interior west which means huge snowfall totals are possible. Lead is near Rapid City and Spearfish which are known for extremely fast weather changes. For example, October 2019. 72F/22C on the 9th, then a foot of snow and an 18/12F (-8/-11C) day on the 11th. The 18th was warm with 75/41F (24/5C), but then another foot of snow on the 21st, and a chilly 13/-1F (-11/-18C) on the 30th. This is more variable than normal but far from the most extreme weather they see. Daily data here: Pine Springs, Texas is amazing for Texas. Temperatures range from 87/63 (31/17) in June to 53/31 (12/-1) in December, with variable winter temperatures and good summer rainfall. The wikibox for Guadalupe Peak (in Guadalupe Mountains National Park) is even better but it's estimated data not real data.
The best place I found in Texas with real data is Mount Locke at 2070m/6790'. Good temperatures for a place with "mild" winters, but too dry outside of summer. The far northern parts like Amarillo have colder winters with even more variability than Mount Locke but summer is too hot for me.

Göle gets my nomination. Pretty much a perfect subarctic (ok Köppen says Dfb but it's essentially Dfc) climate and hardly any trees in the landscape, which I prefer. Not choosing this as a meme at all. It's a great climate. Only critique would be that Ocobter/November is too warm.  |
