July in Malta came in average, despite cooler than average temperatures for much of the month, several hot days at the end of the month saved it from being below average. For what is essentially a month with clear blue sky & sunshine, some days in the middle of the month were partly cloudy & a couple of days had overcast periods, on one day there were even showers on Gozo & in northern parts of Malta. Here I had a light shower, but one Met Office station on Gozo recorded more than 10mm of rainfall. Because of the cloudier conditions, sunshine came in a little below average. Stats from my PWS in St. Paul's Bay Av. Mx. 31.8C (-0.5C) Av. Mn. 25.3C (+0.6C) Mean 28.6C (+0.1C) Highest Max 35.2C (31st) Lowest Min 23.2C (21st) Lowest Max 29.3C (7th) Highest Min 26.8C (31st) Rainfall 0.3mm (150%) Days with Rain 1 Days with Thunder 0 Sunshine 366.0hrs (95%) Max UV 11.3 (2nd) Min UV 9.2 (6th)

Incredibly boring month, drier and cloudier than average. Meanwhile towns to the north were recording 400-500mm of rain throughout July.

Phoenix, AZ July 2020 Summary This July was literally one for the record books. It was our hottest July ever and hottest month ever, beating July 2009 and August 2011 by 0.35°C. It also had the latest monsoon start in the 20 years I've lived here, at July 22nd; 16 days later than average! Impressive, a new record for hottest month! It's been a really disorientating year so far, with no real winter, temps and sun both on record pace up until the end of May yet we've gone straight into autumn. That weather box is awful. Really wet in February, a decent spring, but summer is lukewarm and rainy. Basically the stereotype of British weather. Hopefully you get decent warmth this month. I know Paris has mild winters, but really, nothing below -1 all winter? Also it looks very dry so far this year.
Paris climate >>> Tokyo climate this year. Too wet and cloudy in summer. Tokyo July was cloudier than Paris January somehow.

The third warmest month on record, mostly from the warm nights. The other two months (July 1921 and 2012) were 2F warmer than this one though, so it wasn't even close to first place. This month lacked any extreme heat or sustained 90s that usually would happen with a record month.
The monthly low of 62 ties the all-time record with July 2012 and August 1995. There was more variability than normal, but it only varied between average and warmer. Rainfall was slightly above average, but it did not feel that wet since most of the rain came on three days that saw over an inch. Only 6 days over 1mm. The highest heat index was 103F/39C on the 26th and dew points ranged from 55 to 77, average 65 (13, 25, and 18C). Also, 23 lows at or above 68F/20C. Lows were more stable than highs. I generally get a few degrees cooler at night and dropped to 59. Still, I want it cooler in summer, not like this. This year's June is about what I want in July.
Some other nearby cities: Brookfield (suburban Milwaukee) 84/65 (29/18), 4.80" on 7 days. Madison 85/65 (29/18) and 7.59" on 7 days Chicago O'Hare 88/70 (31/21) and 2.55" on 10 days. Chicago Northerly Island (on Lake Michigan) 83/71 (28/22) but the lowest all month was 67! (19) La Crosse 88/66 (31/19) and 1.72" on 9 days, but with 14 days above 90! There were a few cool days in the low 70s. Minneapolis 85/67 (29/19) and 4.04" on 10 days July 2012, the month that tied the hottest record with 1921. Much hotter than 2020 since June was dry and humidity was lower to start the month. This was the last time it reached 100.

July 2020 Summary It actually started out resembling winter...yeah the way it should be. Maximums for the first 20 days of the month are fairly normal; rainfall, albiet light was fairly consistent and the sun hours were above average but nothing unusual. Then the last 11 days happened, with 3 more rain days and generally mild and sunny weather. At Jandakot this 11 days period (21st-31st) averaged 20.7/8.2 and really brought the overall average up. Even though rain days were pretty normal, rainfall totals from frontal systems were too weak (Jandakot got boosted by a 39.2mm day on the 13th but most stations nearby received 15-25mm that day) and the fronts at the end of the month were very sharp, with a rain band and little accompanying showers to add to overall totals. Overall a decent winter month, would've liked more rain but it wasn't a disaster. Jandakot: Highest Max: 24.0C (27th) Mean Max: 19.1C (+1.1C) Lowest Max: 14.8C (17th) Monthly Anomaly: +1.25C Highest Min: 14.5C (23rd) Mean Min: 8.3C (+1.4C) Lowest Min: 3.3C (25th) Rain: 107.0mm (61.8% of average 173.1mm) Rain Days: 16 (-1.8 of average 17.8 days) Sun Hours: 204.8 hours Sun hours/day: 6.6/day (+0.5/day) Perth Metro: Highest Max: 24.4C (27th) also record July max is 25.8C, so fairly close. Mean Max: 19.4C (+1.0C) Lowest Max: 15.0C (17th) Monthly Anomaly: +1.1C Highest Min: 14.5C (23rd) Mean Min: 9.1C (+1.2C) Lowest Min: 4.3C (2nd) Rain: 83.4mm (57.7% of average 144.5mm) Rain Days: 15 (-2.2 of average 17.2 days) Sun Hours: 204.8 hours Sun hours/day: 6.6/day (+0.5/day)

Worst July I've lived through (May only had data for the first 9 days. The rest are extrapolated from nearby stations) Temperature vs 1991-2020 (2010's) High: -2.1 (-2.8) Low: -1.2 (-1.3) Mean: -1.8 (-2.4) Precipitation vs 1991-2020 (2010's) 199% (329%) Sunshine vs 2002-2019 (2010's) 77% (75%) You have to go back to 1978 to find a colder July mean than 2020. 1995 and 1996 both had 14.2'C means though, making it a three way tie. It was also extremely rainy and extremely cloudy.

annoyingly hot and humid month but not too extreme except for a couple days just stably moderately hot and humid mean of 75.1°F (+4.4°F), 3rd hottest month on record for Amherst after July 1955 (mean 75.9°F) and July 2013 (mean of 75.6°F). July 2013 was much more humid for the first 3 weeks and then the temperatures and humidity crashed into a pattern cooler than anything we got this month. Average high: 85.6°F Average low: 64.5°F Total precipitation: 5.07"

Speagles84 July 2020 Summary - Spring Church PA:
Hot, hot, hot.
I hit 90F FIVE times in July, which is by far the most I've hit 90F since living here. I've only hit 90F three times over 3 summers (2017,2018,2019) and now have more than doubled that number in one month. Tied my PWS record of 92F. Very warm lows as well, a couple days of heavy rain pushed me to above average rainfall, but its still quite dry. First month I've lived in Spring Church that its failed to drop to 50F at least once.

July 2020 was cooler and wetter than average in the OKC area. We had a severe thunderstorm with 78 mph wind gusts on the night of the 19th, knocking out power to 1/3 of Norman. We got some rain on other days, but the month was otherwise uneventful. Some days in the 100s F (>38 C) were predicted early in the month, but that failed to verify. However, I spent the latter part of the month in the Raleigh area, and there July was consistently slightly warmer than normal, tying 2010 for the fourth warmest on record. While it never got above 97°F/36°C, there were a record 28 days at or above 90°F/32°C (August 2007 was the only month with more 90s), and the lowest high was 87°F/30.5°C, tied for the warmest on record of any month. The month also ended with 17 consecutive lows at or above 70°F/21°C, a streak that is still valid as of 00:30 on the 4th and tied for the seventh longest streak on record.
