Jan 1939 - some of the extreme max temps set during the event still stand today
Noticeably the NSW State record of 50.1c at Wilcannia and the site record of 46.6c at Rutherglen, VIC.
All other extreme max temps from the 1939 event have been surpassed in SA, VIC and NSW, notably in the 2009 and 2019 heat waves.
