This morning's GFS run shows a couple of inches of snow down to Louisiana next week, lol. -map snipped- Kind of funny that the east coast of Wisconsin is snow-free - except for that spot by Sheboygan. Looks like I'm in the crack again. Does it snow often in Louisiana in October? I'd assume not!

Ei, this is near the Daugava river, opposite from the Old Town, but I work in State Revenue service which is in the Čiekurkalns neighborhood. Overcast, but, on the positive side, less chilly in Riga today, up to 11C / 52F.

Yeah, I noticed that, and it seems to be the Latvian State Television building.
9.6C here today, compared to 3C yesterday.

From now to April you will find this quite a common occurrence.

The 06Z GFS is giving us an ice storm. It's not gonna happen, but it's interesting to see.

very slow arctic ice refreeze; wonder if it will impact winter weather Maybe. It could be another winter with a largely consolidated polar "vortex" with a few intrusions to mid-latitudes, like last winter. So...normal? Although the vortex was pretty consolidated last year. Or it might be one of the winters with a lot of intrusions to mid-latitudes...

There was a bit of snow in north Louisiana mid November of 2018 with minor accumulation reported in Monroe, LA! There's never been accumulating snow on record here in Alexandria before December 2nd. I don't think there will be snow/ice anywhere near Louisiana next week, but maybe there will be some in parts of north TX & OK.

Only got to 60 (16 c) today, well below the forecast. Sunny morning but smoke moved in in the late afternoon.
Friday is the first cold day with a chance of snow before record cold comes in Sunday and Monday. TWC has 19 f (-7 c) highs forecast for both days which would easily be the coldest October highs ever.

Fake news? Do I dare assume I'll get storms?

Massive storm complex this afternoon (Oct 22) way out in its natural habitat in outback SA, as far as possible into the Mars-like desert as possible. And ofcourse, it was up to 40C out there during this epic occasion. With the forecast, I expect nothing less than an unreal day of FUN tomorrow.

124km/h gusts in Woomera at 9.06pm today from one of the storms they got today. They're still getting storms. They average more storms per season there than I do per 10 billion years.
