quite a lot of rain here the last two days. 120mm so far this month, and the forecast looks rather wet.

I made a GIF of the latest GFS forecast temperatures for the South-Central Plains from hours 84-192. I doubt it'll actually be this cold, as having four days below 40°F in October would be pretty insane, especially considering as Tuesday is almost an ice day in the latest model run.
Freezing rain map for the lulz.

10f (-12c) in Havre MT right now with a forecast low of -5f (-20c) tonight. Might be the first -20c for the lower US, for inhabited places anyways. Lucky bastards.

Cold morning today, -14C with a windchill of -20C. This is our first -20C windchill of the season I believe, though we did have a -19C windchill last week one morning.
Also a very cold high in the forecast for today, only -5C. On the plus side (literally), our highs are going back above freezing next week. Next three days are very cold but then we're warming up toward more seasonal temperatures.

Large parts of Northern Sweden reached "meteorological winter" today. Very early for some of these places. Öland's Northern Tip still has meteorological summer doe jajajjajja

Babu is it possible for winter to begin before summer ends, using the Swedish definition? For example, October 12 has a mean of -2'C and October 24 has a mean of +15'C?

Looks like this morning wasn't just cold, it was (daily) record breaking - we officially hit a low of -16.7C beating out the previous daily record of -16.1C.

Had a surprisingly strong t-storm this evening as a cold front is passing thru. Seemed summer-like; didn't last too long but had frequent lightning and some heavy rain. The airport reported a gust of 63 mph! I didn't see any gusts that strong. My sister was saying that lightning hit her house causing the router and TV to go out. Storm clouds ahead of the storm.

The NAM looks like garbage for winter weather here, with all the precipitation to the southeast, and only a small amount of snow in the Panhandle. I shouldn't expect more due to it only being October, but I feel cheated for snow these past several winters. I've only seen >3" of snow once in the past five years, and that was on a visit to Wisconsin, and it was lying snow, so I haven't seen a 3" snowstorm since February 2015.

Unless next week is very hot this will be not just the coolest October, but the coolest month since Feb '18. Last week had one day with a 25.6 C high: 25.6C/78F high... That's chilly for the climate! 25C is like Bandung (6.9S/750-800m) on a rainy/cloudy day at 1-2pm (29C in Jakarta)
