We're already feeling the mildness in Saskatoon, currently sitting at -1C this evening with a couple highs above freezing in the 7-day forecast as well as all lows above -10C except for one. This is the time of the year when the serious cold can settle in for good so any mild weather is greatly appreciated

Next monday has a forecast of 40/20f (4/-7c) in Starkville Mississippi, meanwhile here up north the forecast is 60/53 (15/12c).
Ain't that just dandy.

December 2019 was much warmer. Only 1 or max 2 degrees above average can still bring wintry weather. We'll see. Temperatures are falling in Latvia. Yesterday's high has been 10.2C in Riga. Still 8C last night. Only 4C..5C the whole day in Riga. Cold is coming from the South.

Oh, if CFS predicts 1-2C above average, it will be 5C above in reality. CFS is usually very conservative.
Similar here. It was 8.4C at 3:00, and now at 18:00 it's 2.5C

Oh, if CFS predicts 1-2C above average, it will be 5C above in reality. CFS is usually very conservative. It is conservative indeed. However, I am looking at the weather forecast for the beginning of December. It is way cooler than it was last year. And this is just some days ahead.

Well I'm ready to bet that December will be at least 2C above average.
Here's Turku's Decembers since 2000:
14 months above above average, only 6 months below average.

Hard to imagine December being below average, at least around coastal stations, considering almost all of the Baltic sea is over 3'C above the 1971-2000 average.

November 27th CFS forecast for December. Looks like a torch for everywhere but the southeast. Here's TWC's latest December map. Though they are thinking a more typical La Nina pattern could come during the latter part of the month.

Hard to imagine December being below average, at least around coastal stations, considering almost all of the Baltic sea is over 3'C above the 1971-2000 average. You know, the biggest cold comes from the East. Sweden is lucky to have Baltic Sea to the East to protect it from the Russian cold. But here in Latvia all this cold from Russia can come and bring extreme frost. In the current forecast, there is no extreme cold fortunately. However, I am quite sure that any positive temperature anomaly in Riga will be significantly smaller than in Turku or Umeå. Some cm of snow have fallen in eastern Latvia: Dagda, Rēzekne, Alūksne. No snow in Riga just some drizzle, 5C in the morning, down to 2C in the evening.

295.1mm of precip so far (1-27 Nov)
77mm fell on Nov 7.
Meanwhile Jakarta (Soekarno-Hatta) has been surprisingly dry with only 3.1mm of precip since Nov 8!
